What kind of company car do you think you will get

Realistically? Chevy Malibu, 4 cyl, basic amenities

Ford Fusion, 4 cyl, basic amenities

If gas prices stay up or continue to rise, that may cahnge to Ford Focus. We no longer take docs anywhere in our company cars and gas prices continue to rise so having the larger, nicer cars is a thing of the past. New trend will be basic transportation with high mileage and "adequate" room for samples and literature forging the shape, size, and future of fleet cars.

Funny that you ask. I just got a new one, a crappy base model with no nice amenities included. Not happy. And I'm not asking for much.

I have a car allowance for the first time ever and has worked out great. My Jeep is already paid for and I am actually coming out a bit ahead in the whole 'deal'.

I have a Chrysler Town and Country - will probably have it when I retire and the company offers a big discount if you buy your company car when you retire so - will probably start looking this summer.

How about this add on to the thread (if it isn't hijacking):
What would you buy if you had to buy one?

Have had good luck with my Imapla. Over 30 mpg on highway with decent power and amenities. Would probably buy a used one but upgrade to leather seating as the cloth in the base model is wearing FAST with all the in and out required in this job/territory. Would want to stay with the 3.5L for economy.

I recently had to buy a "newer" car. I bought a Santa Fe Hyundai.

How about the question if you had the money without even thinking about it; what kind of vehicle would you buy?

Me: a brand spanking new Santa Fe Hyundai! I LOVE this SUV!!
Just have the money sitting around???
For business to just drive the shit out of: Hyundai/Kia both have very attractive compacts that get 40mpg and have 100,000 mile warranties on the powertrain. Done.
If for personal use only: F150 Crew, King Ranch edition.

Thanks Feebs,
I have a customer that recently bought the same car after much research. I'll start looking at them.

If I could buy ANY car with money lying around it would be a Mercedes S600 -- if I can afford to buy a car like that then I don't have to worry about mileage.

Ford has improved their quality tremendously and any car, truck, or suv they make is fantastic. Plus, they took no bailout funds and are a US company. We own other cars but Ford is the only company where we have purchased the past three years. Taurus, Escape and Explorer, all incredible.

Really impressed with Ford's progress, especially without Gov money. Had a bad experience with a Taurus recently. '06 model. Averaged 17 mpg overall. Barely got 25 on highway unloaded in winter with no A/C. Dealer could never find anything 'wrong' with it. Never had any major problems, just lousy mileage.
Replaced with Impala with bigger engine, better performance and averaged 23 mpg and better than 30 on highway loaded with three people in it...

'06 was still in their problem years. Get 09 or newer. The Taurus ('10 or newer) does 26 mpg and is a big car, nothing like the old model, Explorer 23 and holds 7 adults. Not sure about their '11 changes to the explorer though, and don't think they should have messed with success. My first car was a 68 Impala. No power steering, no power brakes (I had to stand up to stop it), no AC, standard transmission. That thing was a tank and was unstoppable.

Your first car sounds a lot like mine: 1960 Ford Fairlane 500, 6 cyl, std, now power anything, AM radio-no pushbuttons, heater. It was Mom's and had been wrecked but not repaired and was handed down to me when she finally got a new car.
Ditto on the new Taurus, but it needs to go on a diet along with the Fusion. Both are WAY overweight but the new V6 engines are fantastic in performance and mileage both. Would love a Mustang with the V6: 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and 30 mpg on the highway. Beats the hell out of the 67 Mustang with V8 I had after college in both mileage and performance--but I would love to have it back now....

The new Mustang V6s are very impressive in terms of performance and milage. Frankly, I was kinda shocked when I saw that for the first time.

And wouldn't you love to have that V8 67 back. That is one sweet ride!

My first car was a hand--me-down from 2 of my older brothers who drove the crap out of it with their paper route. It was a stick shift (3 on the steering column) and everytime I pushed the clutch in to change gears it would backfire and sound like a gun. I didn't drive it in the ghetto very often. When I left for college I got a brand spanking new baby blue malibu. I loved that car.
