WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH URGENT PC SALES?

In the fourth quarter Urgent PC sales were $3.3 million, which barely budged from $3.2 million in the third quarter.

We were told that third quarter sales were impacted by reps out of the field for training & less seasoned reps in the force. OK, but all that was behind us in the fourth quarter, so shouldn’t the bump in Q4 from Q3 have been bigger?

And the reps are a bit more seasoned, so why about flat sales from the previous quarter. I heard on the conference call that this time you blamed all this on bad weather. Really?
Come on RK, come out in the field with us and see for yourself.

You make a good point, so I looked more into this. Here is what concluded.
Well RK is not the savior some of our cohorts/fans believe him to be. On other threads on this board, he is branded as somebody who gets it, somebody who has turned the ship around, etc. But I do not think his first year performance lives up to the billing those myopic cohorts ascribe to him. Let us judge on measurements that really matter. Let us look at RK’s performance based on hard numbers for US Urgent PC sales which, in my opinion, in the final analysis, matter the most:

Year-over-year Growth: 17% for RK. 35% for DK. So much for RK’s brilliant turnaround.
Quarter-over-quarter sequential growth: For RK, about flat in Q4 versus Q3, but the trend line has been for an increase of about $0.2 million sequentially. For DK about flat sales in the second half, but the trend line for sequential increase was about the same as for RK. Once again so much for RK’s brilliance.

Expanded Private Pay coverage: Guess who laid the strong foundation and did all the heavy lifting for which the company now reaps the benefits. It was Ann Decker, who left a while back, and her team who laid this foundation. Do you honestly believe RK’s brilliance has anything to do with this, or could this be attributed to what he inherited from Ann Decker’s leadership and her earlier heavy lifting?

Well this is just my opinion, and I am sure once we get past the emotions and entrenched beliefs, we will all be better enlightened.

Thanks for the good insight.

You should add one more item to your list.

Who do you think had the foresight to position the company to start work on fecal incontinence, as was discussed during the conference call last Thursday? I will give you a hint: It wasn’t RK.

First of all, Ann D. was CLUELESS and had NO IDEA about what was going on in the real world.

Secondly, Fecal Incontinence has been talked about since Medtronic began testing it for Interstim. UPI was awaiting an "official" code prior to moving forward so you can't exactly saw DK did that.

Finally, the REPS are the ones who know what's going on in the field. Several have been fired (thanks Pam) or laid-off (thanks Larry) due to poor management. The reps are the ones in the offices sitting with the coding and reimbursement employees. The reps are the ones navigating and helping the physicians with coding and patient education.

Get a grip. UPI is a one trick pony. I noticed that one word regarding Marcoplastique and it's OTHER indications.

Why are you still gripping about field management issues. I thought that DH was supposed to have fixed all these field management issues.

You can spin the data however you want, management will and has always been a problem. Ask yourself, would you advise a friend to work here- Hell no!! This company is horrible, and will always be until a true house cleaning is done. This is worst company I have ever worked for, and my manager is awful, and I am actually making quota in spite of this. I wish I never came here!!!!

What the heck, I made my quota too, but then who wouldn't if your quota is lowered during the year if you are not making it. Stop grumbling about your manager, just learn to ignore him (and his manager too) like I do, and enjoy the money the company is shoveling out. This will not last too long, so ENJOY it.

Care to tell who/what parts of the house need cleansing?
