what happened this week with bonus cuts at Memphis HQ?

Another question is why we weren't in the discussion for the India deal that Stryker landed? Aren't we a British company? Couple that with the SMF and Redapt recalls, and maybe we don't have the money we thought we would have to give bonuses.

This is year three of the three year phase down of the bonus program.

This has nothing to do with harmonization - just the realization of the overall 30% reduction that was announced in the restructuring plan in 2013

The communication last week was only related to home office folks in Memphis, Fort Worth and Andover. This; and the layoffs announced last week in Fort Worth and Memphis, are part of the larger program to Improve our Operating Efficiency.

The impact on our field selling organization is not yet defined...but you will feel the results of the same 20% reduction in employee expense.

You forgot to mention the layoffs in Mansfield. The entire R&D Extremities group was sacked.

Not sure why the business decided to exit Extremities or perhaps that was a convenient way of eliminating some heads. Most of the products developed in Knee and Shoulder have applicability to Hip and Extremities so the folks that are left will pick up the slack. Hard to know if the brain drain will make a difference.

I wonder if S & N is flirting with a discrimination lawsuit? They routinely "layoff" the more experienced employees and they use feedback from fellow employees to tarnish excellent personnel. The most negative comments are from those in quality and operations when it was their responsibility to protect the integrity of the product lines. The folks who got laid off developed countless products generating millions in recurring revenue. I'm sure the new R & D President knows a lot about orthopedics. Believe that and I can tell you another.
