What exactly does a customer team leader do?
Since 2009, their primary responsibility has been to reduce the number of employed sales reps.
So a CTL's role is to be a team leader of customers. Who are their customers? The physicians or the reps? If the latter, when do reps become customers? Does a CTL provide any valuable service to the reps? If the former, then should their focus be calling on the physicians? If so, should they focus on the physicians' needs during a field visit rather than picking a rep apart for not creasing their pants correctly?
And doing a fine job in the NC Cog...how many are left now?
Former districts are now customer teams. CTLs are to lead these customer teams which is where you will find reps. The problem lies in Merck's definition of lead....
True. CTLs are dependent on being led by the team. Unless they live in territory few really know it well. They know a few big accounts from visits, MMFs, display programs or
names listed on weeklies and monthlies but they dont have a fraction of the knowledge the rep has.
when they are not on teleconferences they are pestering their reps on field visits and helping us to get tossed out of offices with their heavy handed approach. Its ok though-I heard from a great inside source that CTL's will be in the next "layer" of cuts next year. They are also looking at how many reps managers are managing....the number I heard was about a 30--40% reduction in CTL head count. I will come back in spades. Karma....thats what its called.
