What does HR do?

So, what does HR do? Don't assist with anything at all. Just dead bodies in meetings, serve no real purpose. For everything, we have to call Tampa

GET RID OF THE EFFING HR group

HR exists only to protect the company. They have no interest in helping anyone.
You are 100% correct. J&J HR once told me that they exist to protect the company and not employees. They are definitely useless to employees but serve a purpose to protect the company from lawsuits. I have seen blatant sexual harassment go unpunished because it would be bad for the company.

Our HR comes in at 10:00 and leaves at 3:00, two days per week. Same before Covid but three days per week. Totally useless and out of reality. Must have very little to do except kiss up to site LT. Does not solve problems. Very Wasteful.

I clearly saw this in consumer. They hire new people as scape goats and then work with their hiring manager to get rid of them in a year for all the failures of the manager and department. Al HR is a bunch of politicians without any real value or skills.

I left the company last year from Consumer. HR's help was nonexistent, I was just asked to call Benefits Center. Pretty disconcerting to walk away from a company with no information on the next steps for healthcare, pension, 401K, final payment, etc.

Similar experience for me. I left mid-month last year. I was told to call the benefits center, since I needed info on pension, 401k, cobra. I had to speak with a different person for each, took 11 calls to get everything squared away. Though they initially billed me for a full month of cobra when I only needed 14 days of coverage. I called and asked them to bill me the proper amount of days, still haven’t seen that bill and did not pay the bill for the full month.

I left last month. Similar experience. Till date, I have no clue what my final pay will be, when I will get the Cobra coverage documents etc. very frustrating. HR didnt move a muscle. I am making so many calls to Benefits center and keep getting the routine response. Disgraceful for a company of this stature.

I wonder is Gorsky will have to call Benefits Center when he leaves end of the year .

When asked who would you want to have a dinner with if you could...I bet not one of us will say "someone from HR". Has to be the lowest rated job description ever...and golly, has to be a hard life. I've yet to even meet a male HR person. Do they hire men?

Don't know about you folks, but during my exit interview, my HR gal was so smoking hot that I asked her out instead of spending a boring hour taking about my reasons for leaving.

She was amazing that night.
Got the best departure gift EVER!

LOVE HR

Maybe so, but they are all white. They say all the right things about diversity but that does not make them diverse. Wonder what their real opinions are.

Do a race heat map on the different HR levels. Not so diverse, especially up high. Lip service with little action. J&J is not even in top 100 diversity companies as you might think.

But they push diversity on other departments. Do as I say, not as I do.

I left last month also, from MD. Very similar experience as others. No help from anyone, especially HR. I understand times have changed and HR has adopted this change brilliantly because they do not have a lift a finger anymore. They have their peloton breaks during the day, they are part of LTs for no real reason or benefit to anyone. Deadweight is right.
