Usually, it's three weeks starting out. If you have experience, I would negotiate that. I think you get four weeks after 5 or 7 years and five weeks after fifteen years. 2 to 3 floating holidays a year and we've had the week off between Christmas and New Years off for the last two or three years.

This must be your first pharma gig. I've worked for six Pharma companies ( 3 big pharma / 3 medium pharma ) over the past 25 years and I can honestly say that while AZ isn't perfect it is light years ahead of most. If you think AZ sucks you need to definitely go into a new industry because it is pretty nice here.

are you on crack? Multiple big Pharma here. Small Pharma and device too, and this place is the absolute worst. I don’t know of anyone who thinks AZ is even among the top. This place is a hole with terrible people at the top.
 




3 weeks plus floating holidays. UK can buy an extra week of vacation, US cannot so use the unlimited sick days for a golf trip. AZ is ok. Other companies give week of 4th of July off (Lilly) as summer shutdown.

Then what are Novartis, Genentech, Novo, and Sun Pharma?? Consider yourself lucky you’re at AZ. I’ve experienced the worst of the worst and this is not it.
 








It’s fucking terrible!! The culture sucks, everyone is acting like they are doing something until they get laid off, and the manager are by far the worst in the industry. I left a couple months ago and it’s the best decision I have ever made. I get on here periodically to see how miserable people are. Just look through the Threads!! The only person that says this place is great is a hiring manager so you won’t stop the hiring process

You can buy a week in the US. It’s called time off w/out pay. You just don’t get paid to take time off. You just have to sign the document & have DSM approval. Have done it several years.
