What do you think of probiotics for sinus problems?

I've had sinus problems for YEARS (surgery, the whole 9 yards) and recently it's gotten really bad -- I'll take antibiotics for 2 to 3 weeks, everything is fine, and then boom, I'm smelling really bad smells again and living with NeilMed Sinus rinse by my side....considering we are probably going to have a horrible spring season allergy wise, I'm starting to look at alternatives.

I read about probiotics (with lactobacillus) this morning and the apparent positive effect they have on sinus problems. Of course, none of this has been approved by AMA.

Has anybody else heard/tried this?

Have you been to an ENT? Sounds like you may have a chronic bacterial infection that is not being totally eradicated or possibly a fungal infection. Have never read about the use of probiotics in ENT problems, but it would make sense if it were indeed a fungal problem. Have to wonder what would happen if you snorted the probiotic...
 
















WE, I've had surgeries -- and was on an antibiotic for 4 weeks. After being off of the antibiotic for 3 weeks, another sinus infection.

Actually, I tried what was in the article Vag referenced. Swished it around my mouth and went to bed.

This morning I woke up with NO PROBLEMS. I NeilMed'd this morning with the probiotic in the saline solution and tonight I am happy to say -- NO PROBLEMS all day long.
