Too many companies come up with a product then look for a market depending on some ads in journals to do the trick. The other way is to try and come up with a product that weak advantages over a product that has ruled the industry for years (CM nail vs TFN).
Zimmer has never been able to provide what they need to make an impact in this market. 3 or 4 years of increase in sales does not validate a direct sales force. 6% market share (see ONN) is still 6%.
And FINALLY. Zimmer will never settle the conflict with the distrbutors. Their efforts a akin to putting a band aid on a cancer patient
