If there are 10 reps going for 4 spots you can guarantee an Endo Rep and Hospital Rep are placed first. If you have been in the same pc geo for a long time you are screwed. In this scenario they prefer 'hoparound henry' over others. Henry has proven he can pick up new assignments quick, has worked across product lines and can manage huge geographies. Henry is adaptable and is used to change. If you only have pc reps in your area brownie points are given to those with mba' s, mha' s, etc. Also, there may be others way outside your geo who get placed based on this criteria. Don't be surprised if Henry has to drive an hour to get the job down the street from you. Finally, anyone with 3-4 or more choices are golden and will be placed. If you were only given 1 or 2 choices then you are a goner.
