This is what they really want, to eliminate any who don't think like the elite. The 'rich' have not sucked Social Security dry. Those earning more than $250,000 are the only ones paying in what they plan to take out. And wait, wasn't it you who made multiple threads about supporting the payroll tax reduction that will cut social security funding? Make up your mind.

Nope, never supported the payroll tax decrease, I am for taking the cap off earnings, and taxing from dollar one, just like medicare. Problem solved, and the rate could be lowered.

It only looks 'stupid' to those with no understanding of the payroll tax issues and what it really means, and to those who blindly accept the one line media proclamations. Of course, these are the same people who are still blindly following obama, the 26%ers.

Re: taxes. I have an ex BIL who runs an extremely conservative and very successful CPA firm in AZ. I asked him on a few occassions what ideas he had on making our tax system equitable. His answer (and he attributed these feelings to the entire tax preparer community in general) was to make income tax a 'consumption' tax - like a sales tax - taxing every item you buy. There would be no higher tax because someone makes more money, they would pay more if they spend more. This sowul also eliminate peope who workj for cash, etc because again, it completely bypasses income per se.

It's an interesting idea, however, one that will never be adapted because the whole tax prep business and accounting business would crash. We have the answers to the fuel problem (use Brazil's completely independant program) and the income tax problem (use consumption tax) we're just so dug in, they will never happen.
