We all knew the surge reps wouldn't have a job after Tamiflu gone but they didn't even have the balls to announce it on the cc last Friday, Had to come in the form of a "newsletter". How classy!! What a bunch of f-ing idiots! Just remember, what goes around comes around.

History repeats itself with this sorry ass company.

History repeats itself with this sorry ass company.

It happens this way every year, tamiflu ends and the surge reps are let go. Didn't they tell you when you interviewed it was only for the length of the contract? The calls that you had for enablex etc. will go back to the other rep who had it originally. Now is the time to sign up for unemployment and hope you get called back for the next flu season. You get the whole summer off.

surge rep here - although I never could get a straight answer from my manager, and I politely asked several times, the best he could do was that he thought it was "through April"

How can a contract sales company sign a contract and not communicate the length of the contract to the employees??

Its not such a hard thing to do - and I can't see where there is any downside for the company in not being completely transparent with this.

They weren't going to be honest about the length, otherwise reps might lose focus and not complete March calls with a bang, and they might lose bonus dollars. All you had to do was ask any of the permanent employees. Tamiflu always ends in March. Sad, tricky, but true.

on the other hand, I beleive most reps would have kept working to the very end because it meant more money in their pocket with every call - so I found out on Monday - I worked to the very end for the money.

now, my job is gone and I'm researching unemployment again - until I can find a more permanent job than this joke called Surge rep - not fun. -

Just FYI. If you left in good standing, you can collect UE insurance all summer and most reps get a letter requesting their return to PDI for next flu seasons contract.

Management will never commit to it's length because each length is different. Some are more elusive than others. Also it's difficult for management to measure hardness. Some who think it's hard may differ in opinion and call it semi-hard or even soft. It's all up to the eye of the management person viewing it at the moment. In any case management, in an effort to improve itself and the quality of it's contracts, will continually evaluate both parameters . . . . . both length and hardness. Any new conclusions drawn will be forwarded to those affected via email.

What in the world are you talking about? Length and hardness?

In answer to your question . . . . . . . it's all in the eye of the beholder. You should know that by now UNLESS you have never seen it, It can catch one off guard due to it's size. But it usually doesn't present itself that way at first. It usually starts as a little, itty, bitty it and then grows itself. It's understandable that most only see it in the dark . . . . . . so it is never really seen unless a light is turned on. That rarely happens so it stays in darkness and it just does it's job! Yes, it has the capability of making more it's if left to it's capability. Many at shared would like to eradicate it and therefore it can't do it's thing.

It's just what it is!

When I was hired for this "seasonal" contract it was made very clear to me that I would most likely only work until April. My manager was very upfront that we always "hope" something else comes along for the surge reps, but not likely. And, why did they need to announce on the call that we'd be let go when that is a given? I had a GREAT experience with my first contract at PDI and look forward to hopefully returning in October.

Most people are completely missing the point of this entire post. Yes, I knew it was seasonal. Yes, I knew it was temporary. I made money and I enjoyed myself for the most part. The point is, management was asked several times on the conference call very specifically if the tamiflu contract was ending March 31. Not a tough question. And it was expertly "dodged" and the most insulting part was that the speaker (can't remember his name) acted like he was "surprised" that it was ending. Tried to play the game of "well, I'm just not sure. I'll check into it and get back with you". A NJ DM chimed in and laid it out very specifically. No need to act so secretive or, in my opinion, "holier than thou" over the whole thing. It is what it is. Just give us the info so we can get on with our lives.

My DM said the same thing when I said that I am not sure . . . . . . "I'll check into it and get back to you"! That's sort of like getting the kiss-of-death from your husband when he has a headache, which is most every night. Have no fear. I know that I am worth more than a blow-off every day by both my husband and PDI management. Want a new DM that appreciates my qualities here at PDI.
