What can I expect

I have a f2f Thursday for the renal division. Can someone please tell me the following:

1 What is the base salary range? Yearly bonus at goal? Is it realistic to make goal here?

2 How much do they give you for a car allowance? Are there rules for the car (ex: can't be older than 5 years old)? What do reps usually drive? Do you all buy or lease cars? Curious

3 I saw a whole thread dedicated to benefits. I'm seeing 3 weeks vacation with 4 sick days and no December Christmas shut down. Is this negotiable at hire? Thread also says 4% match to 401k and poor health and dental coverage. Which company do you get health insurance through?

4 What is training like in FL? Good or bad training Dept? Rayaldee looks like a good product. Is it a good sell? Do dms micromanage or let you sell?

Thx in advance for honest and not wise cracking answers

Do we lease cars? Sure, once I hit the 12,000 miles allowed by a lease I run between offices. Sometimes it can be a challenge but I try to get all of my calls in before the gangbangers wake up.

Let me be as honest with you as I can but I can't help myself not to wisecrack because you will soon be in disbelief like we are after you are hired and have to try as hard as you can to remain positive and not wise crack, so here I go. You will be told a bunch of lies during your interview if you are hired and will realize those lies soon after your hired as we did.

Simply, benefits are 3rd rate, pay is 3rd rate for a biologic start up(pay and bonus is similar to primary care sales from big pharma), management is 3rd rate(can't stand up to CEO nor gain his trust), car allowance is 3rd rate, goals are not realistic, coverage is getting better most in tier 3 with step therapy requirements or specialty tier 4-5 therefore copay affordability is a big problem, 501c3's for assistance run out of money really fast because there is so much need and too few funds and when monies are repleted there are many other drugs that are competing for the same limited funds therefore most who are in need will not get assistance and either Pt. or care giver decline to move forward with the case, refill rates are very low, Opko Connect is a joke like most HUB's are and is run by a dictator who has zero people skills many open cases still pending some for months but you will be told it's your problem, nice, your better off using a specialty pharmacy like the top reps. do, if you have Managed Medicaid or insurance plans that you know would require a supplemental rebate then your fucked because management here will not offer supplemental rebates to any carrier, training is 3rd rate, computer you will get is a joke and will frustrate you beyond belief esp. when your trying to use it in front of a customer or call the help desk and try to understand the broken English they all speak. Opko Renal has a lot of problems and one thing that is consistent with a failing start up is that management is and continues to reveal they are not experienced enough to fix the problems and IMO the biggest reason to STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

I second everything that is stated here, well put and very real.

Given what you describe (which sounds horrible) why are you still working here?

The majority of the sales force is looking for a job. Seriously. Only the Top reps are focused on president's club which closes at the end of September.
Three of the Top will stay for various reasons (i.e. KOL, Family supports the product). The rest will leave after they receive their check in Q4. They won't take to trip to Amelia Island. WOO HOO.
Everything that has been said it true.
Only take the job to fluff up your resume for future potential jobs. I'm not kidding.

What the fuck kind of an arrogant exAmgen response is this? Yes, it's horrible because your inept exAmgen management experience drove the fucking bus over the cliff thinking you all were driving on Rodeo Drive. You fucking horrible exAmgen fuck tard of a manager is the reason why most of who I know including myself area trying to get out of here ASAP. You will soon be fired and carry a legacy of failure with you. Good luck finding another job asshole, of a bunch of fucking liars you all are.

After one month of working at Opko you realize you look like Dorian Grey after looking in the mirror.

"You fucking horrible exAmgen fuck tard of a manager" Perfect description as I couldn't say it any better than that. Thank you for making me laugh out loud as I spit my orange juice over my Opko computer after reading this.

Whew! Hope you feel better after that expletive laced tirade. With this kind of attitude I'm assuming you're not using anyone at Opko as a reference (lol). Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out...

BTW, I am already employed elsewhere, so go fuck yourself and your ego you little fat fucking bastard.

You can expect to become pissed off you made the decision to come to Opko like those that are here now within 3 months after you are hired. Expect your wine consumption to triple and find yourself drunk before noon on many occasions as the only way to cope with all of the bullshit we endure daily.

Thanks for the honest response. How much is reimbursed per mile? Someone said 35 cents and someone said 45. The recruiter did not share this info. Someone on here mentioned they have third rate salaries. Is $95-100k a good ballpark or am I looking at a straight lateral move? I currently make $91 base. What is your comp plan target? And what's a realistic comp plan bonus? Again the recruiter didn't know this info so thanks for helping me make a decision.

You will be lucky if you see any bonus. The target payout is 30K at plan but most reps haven't come anywhere close to making 15K for the 1st 2 quarters. Most are still hoping to get paid for Q2. Mileage reimbursement is way lower than that so you won't be getting rich by just driving all over town.

The best reply was the one that said only come to OPKO if you want to beef up your resume otherwise stay away if you have a good job currently. Most doctors don't care to go thru all the hassle to RX this product as it requires too much paperwork and very time consuming.
