What about the email from PW

I am wondering about the email from PW. Expect some bumps? Excellence is expected and flexibility is an option. He was giving us a message without telling us what he was talking about. What is up?

Transparent vagueness. now we can't say we weren't warned that something is up. One would tihnk that SOMETHING would have been told to the attendees at the town hall meetings, so this is some evidence that the townhalls are not much more than fluffing (look it up..you'll enjoy the reference1)

but truly..wtf ?. managers already know the skinnyon the bumps in the road. it seems, and will be "will be asking for your commitment". Grat metaphor regarding bumps etc but tell us something real and drop the rah-rah yay team rhetoric.

anyone in field or home office know what this is about. mr rah rah evp SC has it all wrappe dup in pre-holiday "what a great team" email, then we get this PW b.s. as the new year starts.

here is the scoop

there will be a restructing in the sales force. minor losses in personnel, just a few tweaks here and there. cmms are basically not going to be cmms any longer. there will be more of an integration on the sales positions. cmms will call on ped offices and bsss will call on hospitals. the territories will be sales territories. hard rules. we will be fully accountable for the customers in our territories. this will take place starting the end of this season. no big deal. might be exciting.

sounds good actually. so cmm's may be integrated into a bss geography as more of an office-based rep, and bss will/can call on both peds and hosps in their geography, and the former cmm rep will have same role to call on hosps and ped offices ? clarify if possible ?

"territories will be sales territories" ? as compared to what else could they be ?

what does Hard Rules mean?

regarding "fully accountable for custs' in territory". aren't we already ? or how would it be different or better?

minor losses in personnel = sales force reductions, after the townhall meetings said that would not happen.?

thanks for sharing.

just telling you what i have been hearing some sales territories will be just that. A rep will be responsible for everthing that happens within their geography. Pharmacies, Key accounts, KOLs. No m ore finger pointing "Oh, that is the responsibility of so and so, out of my jurisdiction". No, it will be all of your responsibility. Minor, minor reductions in personnel or they may be moved around. A cmm who covers a huge geography may no longer do that and may be offered a sales position (morelike a BSS) in a different geography with little to no travel. This may humiliate a once golden child. this would give people a more equal chance of making money. we are all smart enough to do each other's job.

please take this with a proverbial grain of salt. this is just some of the stuff being discussed and it may alter, of course. seems to make good sense to me. i can just guarantee you that there are changes coming.

Let's hear some insights of some of the ideas of some changes, both good and bad. Aside from an ego bruise, what would the cmm care about that change to a bss-like role if making same base salary?: It's less travel at same base pay. Reductions? that's prob some of those once-golden cmm being offered choice: bss-like position, or severance package.
Share what you can. thanks.

you are a huge insensitive A-hole!!! Definately NOT a team player in any way! Not a soul knows what is going to happen and trust me, everyone, including you BSS_ will be in the same boat. Why do you always think you are the "safe one"?? This is everyones career you are "gossiping about"- grow up. Unless you have facts- AND YOU DO NOT - just shut up.

No one said anything about being safe. The only fact that anyone has is that PW and some others got nice promotions again.

If this happens then it will be yet again another brilliant restructuring( probably by those Rocket Scientists ZS Associates) that will cause us to lose even more business.

Do the BSS not get the fact that if we all do the same thing then they have nothing to get promoted to? Medi is not going to bring their compensation up to CMM level, rather everyone will drop down to BIG PHARMA bonus structure.

Also do not underestimate the relationships that the CMM have with their Hospital MDs/KOLs
Now BSS (many who have never called on Hospitals) will not be able to access the key players. On the flip side, the CMMs will not have the office relationships that the BSS have . So what is really going to be the situation? CMMS will get stuck doing BSS Hospitals and visa versa. What a big waste of time. Hospitals are also closing down to new reps- good luck BSS trying to get into them. Why do they not get Manager feedback before screw things up?? And really , if the above scenario occurrs, do you honestly believe that there will be No layoffs?

Or is it that some of the ABMs are jealous of CMM position? Many of the CMMs were here long before the ABMs. WHERE IS THE LOYALTY??

Syn is the standard of care. there's more work needed in the md offices re syn denials/managed care access + FM prebook/pullthrough issues that hosps needing lessons on the BOD for rsv. well duh? its rsv..all kids get it. The '09 downsizing didnt impact cmm's at all, but increased accounts/goals for bss's with an added insult of reduction in incentive comp for goals that are usually unacheivable unless sunjectively reduced AFTER the fact for chosen geographies. double whammy for bss's. cmm world changed how ? nada. PW said it "be flexible". chances are that any cmm's moved to cover ped offices will still be paid the same major $ as an incentive to stay in the role. or, they leave and medi hires someone for far less. if a nicu or discharge planner wants a syn rep to do an inservice, its doubtful the hosp will deny access to a bss that now covers hospitals. its not like comparing an NFL player to high school football. many cmm's are in their current role by default anyway, due to attrition, not because they were some kind of amazing super rep.
change is here. welcome it. be flexible, and see where you fit it. i'd rather see changes and evolution rather than stagnation.

We don't want the kind of change that zs associates will bring. They will slaughter this sales force, with no regard to management of offices. Syn is a "late-stage" biologic and, although sales will continue to decrease, their savings on the head count, benefits, and bonus will off-set the loss. And as far as new drugs in the pipeline? Medi has AT LEAST (and best case scenari...2015 before any drugs are approved). This is a talented sales force and whether it be in this industry or another...amazing group of people.

Syn will not have declining sales as a mature biologic. its standard of care. the only declines would be from outside sources further restricting access. kids are born every day. rsv is out there every season. it's odd and typical how for a company that was trying to keep a tight lid on expenses, and minimal merit increases, that PW gets a huge $ promotion. we're all in the ID silo now. rheu silo is next to be built but. maybe they can call it the "rheuMOTAlogy" silo.

This is senseless. We live in a nation with declining premature births. Pregnancy can be prolonged by new medications, people can't afford multiple births so they don't have ivf, etc etc. Combine with guidelines and realize that Synagis business is tanking just like our company is.

Bye MedImmune. This company is a wreck!!!!

Well, I see no one has anything to say to the truth eh?
