Welcome to WEEK 2 OF NCAA FOOTBALL (PICK EM) Major Match-UPS! If this is your first week to play we are only selecting from the Major Match-UPS this year. Most people really don't care if you picked Central Eastern State to beat North Central Tech.

RULES: I have attached and posted the USA Today Odds for these eight games and chose the "average," of all of the different odds making services that USA Today endorses.

USA TODAY LINK: http://sportsdirect.usatoday.com/odds/usatoday/ncaaf.aspx

WEEK 2 Major Match-Ups:

1. Notre Dame Vs. Michigan (Michigan +3)

2. Alabama Vs. Penn State (Penn State +10)

3. South Carolina Vs. Georgia (Georgia +3)

4. BYU Vs. Texas (Texas -7)

5. Utah Vs. Southern Cal (Southern Cal -8.5)

6. Miss State Vs. Auburn (Auburn +6)

7. Virginia Tech Vs. East Carolina (East Carolina +17.5)

8. Cincy Bearcats Vs. Tennessee (Tennessee -4.5)

WEEK 2 Note: Last week Bronco Boy beat all of us. This week we have to show that potato eating fool who is in charge! I hope you all like this more simple format this year. I appreciate everyone playing and good luck!!

5. So Cal -8.5
6. Miss State

Hey Bronco Boy. I think I actually had 5 Wins and 3 Loses? Please double check this to make sure I got my picks right?:

1. Michigan +3 (Final Score: Mich 35 ND 31) (Right Pick)
2. Penn State +10 (Final Score: Bama 27 PSU 11) (Wrong Pick)
3. South Carolina -3 (Final Score: SC 45 UGA 42) (Right Pick)
4. Texas -7 (Final Score: Texas 17 BYU 16) (Wrong Pick)
5. Southern Cal -8.5 (Final Score: USC 23 Utah 14) (Right Pick)
6. Miss State -6 (Final Score: AU 41 Miss State 34) (Wrong Pick)
7. East Carolina +17.5 (Final Score: VA Tech 17 ECU 10) (Right Pick)
8. Tenn -4.5 (Final Score: Tenn 45 Cincy 23) (Right Pick)

If this is correct I would be 6-5 For The Season? Not great and I feel bad I picked against Bama but Happy Valley really concerned me but I am pleasantly surprised by how well we played today.

So. Cal won 17-14 - not by 23-14. So that makes you 4-4 for the week. The first week you were 1-2. So for the 2 weeks you are 5-6. I thought you missed the So Carolina game but I was mistaken. So we are tied @ 5-6 for the 2 weeks. I got the Mich, Georgia and BYU games right this week.

Oooops. Correction. You're right. Sorry. USC did beat Utah 23-14. That means we both got it right. That means you're 5-3 and I'm 4-4 for the week - and we're now tied @ 6-5 for the 2 weeks.

Suggestion: In the future let's just pick the major match-ups with a mix from all regions of the nation. East Carolina and VA Tech shouldn't have been considered a 'major match-up' this week. In fact any game with a 10 point or greater spread shouldn't really be considered a 'major match-up' IMO.

Good luck next week,

Bronco Boy.

PS - Toledo sure gave Ohio State a scare today, eh? The Broncos play Toledo next week. I don't think you could consider Toledo a cupcake team after today's performance against the Buckeyes, eh?

And don't forget that the Broncos beat Georgia by 2 full touchdowns. South Carolina just barely squeaked by them by a field goal. In fact, Georgia was in the lead most of the game ;)

USC 17-14 Final. The return was disallowed due to a celebration penalty.

No. You're wrong. 2 hours after the game the Pac-12 ruled that the touchdown return after the blocked Utah field goal did, in fact, count. So based on all the reports I read the final score was 23-14 - a 9 pt spread. Very confusing.

So my previous post stands unless the Pac-12 changed their minds again and I didn't read about it.

Bronco Boy.

Sounds good to me about picking more major match-ups. Could you check out the schedule for Week 3 and suggest some from the Pac 12 or Out Of Conference game suggestions? I will check out the schedule and suggest some SEC and other Conference games I think are major match-ups.

Yeah Toldedo sure gave Ohio State a scare. Coach Fickle and his staff which is pretty much everyone except Tressell is a well seasoned staff. Ohio St. Vs. Michigan should be more of an entertaining game to watch. I was really amazed by the Auburn Vs. Miss State game. Everyone thought Auburn would loose or have to try and pull a 4th Qtr. Comeback. Maybe we could do an early pick for the LSU Vs. Miss State game because it is this Thursday Night? That will be major match-up because Miss State could give LSU a good scare.

Georgia was playing at home in Athens so I think that helped improve their performance over last week. Boise State is a far superior team and that was proved last week but I think UGA played South Carolina much tougher at home. I know you were pulling for UGA to beat South Carolina but you should have taken my pick on that one!! This will be Mark Richt's last year, he is a good man but not a great coach.

Thanks for looking over the games and double checking our picks. Not a bad day yesterday for us but hopefully next week we will have some more accurate picks. Good Luck!

Yeah, I will offer some suggestions for Week 3 picks - not just in the Pac-12 but other conferences too. I will post them under this thread by Wednesday.

My general feeling is that if there is a 10 pt or more spread between teams it should not be a 'major match-up'. And at least one of the teams should be ranked.

Toledo is definitely a team to be reckoned with. Boise plays them on Friday. That might be a good game to add too. Based on Toledo's performance against the Buckeyes the spread shouldn't be any more than a touchdown.

Georgia played at the Georgia Dome against Boise. How was that not 'at home'? It was even worse for Boise since there were 80,000 screaming fans inside a closed stadium. I felt Georgia played about the same quality of ball against SC as they played against Boise. Boise was just a tougher opponent. That's all. Boise would beat SC too.

Georgia really outplayed SC. They were in the lead for most of the game. SC just lucked out at the finish. Go look at the box score.

Bronco Boy, The following is a list of games I think we should pick from. I agree we should go with ranked teams and close point spreads. This week we can include Boise Vs. Akron but I would like to include Utah Vs. BYU (The Holy War). Rivalry games are always a must. There are some really good games this week!

1. LSU Vs. Miss State (We can pick this early since it is on a Thursday Night, if you want to wait to make your other picks on Friday that is fine with me.) LSU is going whoop that ass....
2. Boise State Vs. Toldeo
3. West Virginia Vs. Maryland (This is going to be a close Big East game) Trying to include the Big East for one week...
4. Auburn Vs. Clemson
5. Texas Vs. UCLA
6. Michigan State Vs. Notre Dame
7. Tennessee Vs. Florida
8. Ohio State Vs. Miami
9. Stanford Vs. Arizona
10. Oklahoma Vs. Florida State

Maybe Hairy will finally join us for a week? Pale Horse knows that is the pussy we are talking about. I hope Pale Horse will also make his pick and I am sure Fucktard will pick since Florida is playing Tennessee. I am sure Hairy will make up his own rules..

You have some good games listed. What's up with Texas vs. UCLA? That's going to be a blowout. I think Toledo will give Boise a better game than Georgia did. Boise better be hitting on all cylinders. Toledo is no pushover. They almost knocked off Ohio State.

I think Hairy is jaded. He prides himself on his football pick acumen and when it doesn't go his way he bails. Too bad. Hell, it's just for fun. Picking games is no easier than playing the stock market. There's more luck involved than skill. If everyone kept that in mind we wouldn't take it so personally and get our feelings hurt.

With that said, I'm batting over .500 so far and will take a clear lead going into Week 4. :D

I will say right now that my Vols will kick the crap out of F'tards gators. I'll pick the rest on Friday. Yep, gator on a stick this weekend.

That's why Hairy's posts are so good. He lies and cheats. My favorite is the excuses.

"You know, if OSU hadn't thrown that interception and the other team not score w/ 3 seconds left then the Buckeyes would have won so I'm putting this one in the W column"

"If there wasn't an SEC OSU would have more National Championships so I am gonna count OSU National Champions in those years"

Bronco Boy here.

Ok, bama. I look over the games for Week 3. Three things suprised me:

(1) Only a 3 point spread in the UCLA-Texas game (WTF?)

(2) As high as a 19.5 spread in the Toledo-Boise game. Didn't they watch Toledo nearly knock off OSU last week? (WTF?)

(3) Notre Dame has a -4 spread against Mich. State. (WTF?)

All the games you picked are good. I might suggest to add the BYU-Utah game to keep the Mormons happy. I know that would make 11 - but it is a rivalry and should be a good one.

Thanks for doing all the admin on the college picks this year!

The UCLA-Texas game is closer because lots of folks are predicting Texas to go .500 this season. I picked it because Texas is ranked and the spread is close like you suggested. BYU beat Ole Miss but Texas should have really taken care of BYU this past weekend and not only beat them by 1 point.

Boise State will easily cover the spread against Toledo and then some. Ohio State is in a lot of turmoil right now concerning the ongoing NCAA Investigation and I have heard the NCAA Infractions Committee is not done with Ohio State yet. I know Toledo played Ohio State hard in the Horseshoe but losing Tressell after 10 Years coaching Ohio State on after winning many Big 10 Championships and 1 National Championship is devastating. As an Alabama Fan I thoroughly understand that the NCAA can levy sanctions that can cripple a program for 10 Years. Maybe this is why Hairy has not been around lately? This weekend we should call the Ohio State Vs. Miami game the "PROBATION BOWL!"

Sorry I did not list the BYU Vs. Utah game but I did mention it in my original posting. The "holy war," is a bitter rivalry game that I think would be awesome to pick. Who do have for that one? They are playing at Utah and BYU has just played two major road games against Ole Miss and Texas. I wonder if they have enough gas in the tank for Utah?

I also don't understand the Notre Dame Vs. Michigan State spread. I think that Michigan State is a better team than Michigan this year and have heard they will be in contention to win the Big 10 this year.

It's good to see Pale Horse will be playing this week. Bronco Boy should have taken my pick on the Cincy Vs. Tennessee Game (Bronco you gotta start paying more attention to my SEC picks!) Tennessee has one hell of a QB but I think they are playing the Gators in the Swamp which will be a tough game. Florida has improved over last year and is a program that will never be down for long because of awesome recruiting and arguably the nation's best talent pool.
