got call from recruiter today about ventiv/merck psych specialty opportunity. I think i will stay put.

But you should call them. Oh, let me know geography you are giving up as I have 3 firends looking for flex and they love this model. Thanks!

lol! yes they should have spell checked but I agree I want this to go on, I love this job I hope we get some clarification also.

Think about it this way. You want clarification about what the company will do for you, and the company wants clarification about what you can do for them. It is up to you to make their choice crystal clear, especially since your preference seems to be to keep this going. Love your attitude and approach, same as mine, but this is not the place to seek thoughtful answers. You know that! but it was a nice post from you.

If there is a renewal - it won't be announced until sometime closer to summer 2013. If there is a new product - will mean the viability of this contract. Bottom line is that contract is a temporary job, and the best thing to do to protect yourself is to find a permanent position in another company or industry. I can live with the uncertainty if I knew that the contract was really in place until Dec 2013, but Merck/Publicis can end the contract or your employment at any time, which makes it very hard to plan for the future.

PS I really like this job and find the flex time fantastic.

Isn't every job a temporary job these days? This company has stood by me more than once. I feel more secure here than anywhere else.

True, they stood by me as well. I will work my tail off for this company because they earned it. I hate when people trash them or make demands or assumptions based on stuff they know nothing about. "Mass turnover will result" is a pretty ignorant thing to say. Much better to be laid off from this company if you did well by them than most others. Of course, quitting because the grass looks greener somewhere else has proven to be a pretty stupid move for lots of people I know. Nothing wrong with it, just count on much more competition when you try to come back--and try to explain why you bailed when they needed you. Good luck with that. I hope none of this is an issue in the future, but now I see no reason to be overly concerned. We better step up though. That's the world we work in.
