Wall Street Ringers Celebrate 10 years...

What did the group of Hospira executives that rang in the opening bell on Friday look like to you?

Pirates...

They look like successful businessmen dominating the street and all fired up to make stockholders a hefty return.Hell, screw the employees and lawyers and FDA they are all under control and HSP is trading nicely @ $49
Did you have to walk the plank matey ? AAAaahh hoist that scurvy yard dog !

If you can't find a better place than HSP to invest then you should just give up and buy an index fund...no top line growth no dividends and no integrity.

If the choice was HSP stock or a stock chosen by having a monkey throw a dart at the financial pages then I'm going with the monkey's pick.

Lets tell the truth. Hospira is the cast off of Abbott. The officers of Hospira who were also cast offs made sure that they kept the money in their pocket by stealing from the employees retirement fund and not giving the traditional stock options. Chris Begley wrote a book on ethics but did not practice it in more ways then one. He then made poor decisions and cashed in on them quickly before everything went down the tubes. In the United States we pay CEO's for poor performance. The FDA can not penalize Hospira with a consent decree because of the interruption it would cause in drug delivery. Hospira has an awesome pipeline of biosimilars that may save them. So it goes. Everyone be proud of how corporations now are the royalty that our ancestors tried to flee from.

Excellent synopsis...we park our cars in the same garage. Maybe one piece missing is how the courts are as bought off as the politicians and regulators are so there is no longer any sort of check and balances against corp America.

Hospira isn't a company. It's a financial engineering experiment dreamed up by the fine folks at McKinsey. The insiders are bleeding it as much as they can for as long as they can.

Excellent points....and just like a long time ago, the king gave a few crumbs to the royal court and jester's for their loyalty. I spoke with Begley at the last sales meeting he attended. He approached me. We had spoken before. He said to me that "you and I will be gone, before biosimilars will make it too market". I just smiled and nodded. I regret not expressing my thought at that precise moment..."you sir, are a thief." I was without courage or conviction, part of the herd. The foreword of his book is written by Mitt Romney, another thief...birds of a feather.
