Waiving right to sue?

First off, do you have a legitimate reason to sue? Since they are firing EVERYONE, certainly no chance of discrimination. You will be given a few weeks to sign the waiver, then you will forfeit the severance. Trust me, YOU WILL DEFINITELY WAIVE YOUR RIGHT TO SUE! Please stop trying to act brave while being anonymous on cafepharma.

OK, lets calm down;

1-the bottom line is that you will be given a few weeks to sign, or thus forfeit your severance; its that simple. Severance pay is NOT an entitlement, and NO company is obligated to pay a dime in severance!

2-Like most companies, the company does not provide reference checks. Future employers will log into a third party verifier (the worknumber) and will be given your last title, your start date, your end date. NOTHING ELSE; ZIP, NADA, NOTHING!

3-Vertex should NOT keep us, if there is NO need. Inteferon free regimens are right around the corner. You knew this when you joined, and still accepted the job. You had a good job, with great pay, now attempt your next move. This is the nature of the business today. There are no more 30 year pharma sales jobs.

4- There were 105k pharma sales jobs in 2005 and only 70,000 today. And yes, some of us will land on our feet, and get other biopharma jobs, for similarly bloated money. Many of us will never work in this industry again, while joining the 30,000 other reps who were fired in the last 5 years, and have not been able to get back in. These unfortunates will be ruined financially, and will no immediately that they were living in a farce world making the money that they made. Many of us will find jobs making 40-50k and yearn for the pharma job that we so often complained about.

For those of you who suffer, please come back to cafe pharma, and tell us how great we all have it. Remind us how easy our jobs are, and how our pay and perks are no where near commensurate with our duties. Maybe then, we will be realized how blessed we are to drive around all day, delivering sandwiches for 100k+ and bonus and car; for 3-4 days a week.

Well said, but the company does not care about your attorney; if you do not have the release in their hand ontime, you will forfeit your severance package, plain and simple. Also, there is no such thing as a "poor severance", as the company let you go, for any reason, and give you absolutely nothing. The "package" is the package, and you will not be able to change it; with OR without an attorney. So if you want to waste money on an attorney, nobody cares; but I assure you the release will not be changed for you.

Its real simple folks, you sign the release AS IS and get a severance package, or you do not sign, and get NOTHING! There will be no exceptions, as there never are. Huffing and puffing on cafepharma will do you no good!
 






If you are one of "those" reps that spent "all day driving around and delivering sandwiches... and enjoying the perks" perhaps you are part of the problem. Clinical failures aside, maybe if you had pulled your own weight early on, sold the product and educated your targets on appropriate management, there could have been a better ending to this story. The market has changed and there is no room for those of you that spend afternoons at the nail salon or your kid's soccer game. The rest of us were working and we all pay when half the team plays by their own rules and is dead weight. That business model died long ago and a few of you were still hoping the free ride would continue. If 2 people can produce the same volume as 10, the market IS headed in the right direction. What will be interesting is to see where all those entitled fake titled "Directors" end up. They directed the show and now the curtain is down.

It's amazing to see Dan get dumped into HCV from CF and now back into CF!

Where are all the lawsuit threads now? Is anyone really going to attempt to sue? We got screwed and lied to....very disappointing since we all wanted to believe that "every patient counts" even though the phrase irked us. I talked to customers yesterday and they asked who they need to call for support and I had to tell them there isn't anyone other than the 1-800 Vertex number. I definitely had support from my docs and some who are KOL's were disgusted with Vertex in how this happened. Even if VX-135 comes out it will have the Vertex name on it (maybe) and will instantly be rejected.....at least I hope.
