Voluntary Pension?

[I want to be laid off]

I already have another job offer lined up. Does anyone who ACTUALLY KNOWS have any idea if I can volunteer to take a package and save a team mate? Would a call to HR do me any good? Please no guesses or speculation. Thanks!

I am a manager. Last time neither would help you. I really don't think they will offer voluntary severance. At the most, they may offer early retirement. This would probably apply only to those within a few years of retiring anyway.

Even if you have another job lined up you cannot accept it until you receive your severance package. Once you are informed you are being laid off you will still be paid by the company for 60 days. If at any point during those 60 days you take another job Novartis does not have to pay your severance. A sort of handcuff in case they need to bring you back in that 60 day window.

DO NOT CALL HR. Once you call HR, or tell a manager, you are GONE. Hold tight, and double dip. Work your new job and take take take from Novashitis.

Thanks for the posts. I would call anonymously from a phone that could not be traced to me. Also, how does Novartis know whether I have accepted or started a job during the 60 day window? My thought was to accept it and set up a start date 30-60 days in the future and take a vacation.
