Vision Care Casualties--

So why did they remove the VP of Regulatory for Vision Care?

According the the CEO in 2012 there are going to be a lot of Vision Care products coming out. A new lens in mid-year and a new solution by the end of the year. Is this no longer the case?

Are these products not getting approved by the FDA or by other regulatory agencies around the world?

Was the VP just a fall guy for the rest of the Vision Care organization that is under performing from early research to submission? Seems likely because if you are having problems with submissions the cure is simple. Just hire a bunch of consultants and you should be able to produce an regulatory approval. However if the products are technically flawed then it does not matter how many consultants you get you will never get the product approved for sale.

This could be the year for Vision Care. If a lens with a new material gets approved and a new contact lens solution gets regulatory approval it would be a big boost to the Division.

We just need to focus our efforts and resources to make this happen.

Not going to happen. People just pretend to work on Vision Care in this company.

Flat to down. Will have to really work in 2012 to make VC work. Getting Reg approvals in foreign markets would help out a lot too.

Not enough resources to make this happen unless people have there job descriptions changed so they can focus on generating the reports for the regulatory approvals.

Faster, successful regulatory approvals for new contact lenses and contact lens solutions should be on the objectives of every scientist in R&D this year. A "not my job" attitude is unacceptable. If any deadlines are missed the reason for the missed deadline should be quickly identified and the resources of each department should focused to speed up the process. There are just too many scientists in this organization to make the excuse that there are not enough resources. If a deadline is missed it is because the people in the department are not prioritizing on making sure the deadlines are met.
