What does a VERBAL WARNING mean within Lilly? What is the process? Can you ever get off, or is it hung on your neck for the length of time that you remain in the company.
 












Do you mean no increase in Pay Grade? What about the opportunity to move to a different position, does it follow you? Is it verbally shared so that it sabatoges you at the interview?

This is the first step in the Lilly discipline process for inadequate/unacceptable performance. Although it is called 'verbal warning' it is generally documented through an e-mail to the affected employee, which is forwarded to HR at discretion of management/supervisor. So it could end up in your employee file. However, there should be clear direction from the supervisor to improve performance in the near term. If successful for some period of time
following the warning (like 3-6 mo), the employee should be considered back in good standing with no long term repercussions. I think it is meant to be an official 'wake-up call'.

You are 4-6 weeks away from getting an email about your negative performance; then in about 3-4 weeks after that you will have a chat with your boss, his/her boss and HR rep. HR rep will tell you how bad you have been, and tha a lot of people have found you to be unworkable colleague. Just about time of your ePM, you will be rated U. Then you will complain. Then you will be re-allocated to position of CEO. But that is not available (unless you do something to have the guy vacate he position), so you are chooped of with final ePM U.

Then you go home. Depressed as an ass walking down the foothills of the Meridian Street. Then you think what to do. Then you fall sleep..then you cannot fall to sleep for all the regurgitation of thought you will have..(Hope you have a decent spouse and very understanding children)..then you lament where was your fault...then you decide to "try" to forget the whole situation...then you have a day dream...while taking siesta...refreshened you decide to continue of the regurgitaion of thoughts...what wrong you did...no it is not my fault you say (yes, you are right)...then you fall to sleep...then you wake up at 10 o'clock...all anew...Then you call your spouse for lunch at Villa Vista Bistro..then he/she ask you what time did you wake up...you say at 10! You see her/his eyes glitter with envy...you feel a normal YOU again...that night you have wonderful rejoicement a la honeymoon encore! "Voila, wah!," you say...then you fall of to the best sleep ever in your entire life...not worrying of next day...mornign cardinals chirp, dove doees, and finches flitters and the mroning Sun welcomes you...Wake up Harold/Emily (or whatever), take a peek to the glorious morning...your wife/hub also taken half day..just for YOU...bring morning breakfast-in-bed...and then you kiss with your stinky mouht...on his/her forehead for that you have a family and life back again...In about three weeks of job annulment you begin afresh..with new vigour...taking on the Pharma...where it has ills...logging back to CafePharma...to let other know of what it is like inside...with an expert view.

I'm afraid this is true as all leadership is being called to reduce staff while also reducing the number of costly reallocations needed. Performance management is just the tool. It's now how well you perform, but how well you perform against your peers. The bottom 10% must go every year now, regardless of how they performed.

Collect all your documents, PM's, ePays and everything else you would need if you got shot out the door tomorrow. If you noticed at the shareholder meeting, one of the items that was listed as a 'hit' against the bottom line was the high cost of reallocation.

Don't think for a minute they are going to keep paying "packages" when the sacred dividend is on the line. The monies they pay out now are going to hit against October and the new method of avoiding those costs is to eliminate people for lack of performance. Once you get cut for that, you're double screwed because the people that did get let go with packages all have letters from HR stating that they were released for non-performance reasons. When you can't show that letter and every employer in town has seen them, you'll be second in line to push a broom.

DSM sent, me an e-mail, had to review compliance policy....end of the year instead of being High Successful, got a Successful....that was it. I thought that I had the right hibbert materials and I was wrong.....which is a whole other story.

I would recommend getting your numbers up, so you don't go from S to LS...other than that don't worry.

BTW after this incident, I was assigned elsewhere with great success, then let them have it at the very worst of times - for them. Dishonesty is very bad poison.

You are abbb...solutely right. These fyhcking assholes think that they can do anything..yes, if you don't know the laws, and in particular the Employment Laws. Get an employment lawyer...most likely your boss will never challenge you again (of course you could be timed 8 to 5, and vi's adviceolating 1 second is enough..but you get the point...win at any cost ). Show that your boss is motherfüčķinģ evil son of whőre vampire, and that YOU have been unduly obstacled, restricted, threatened, to perform your duties, and that you seek transfer to different areas. Make sure you corroborate your story to your friends and colleagues -- and have HR take their view in your presence -- because there are Judases ther --

I have done this and continue to do this since I as put on a warning. Even when I am off and until I retire from Lilly I will continue to do this. TRUST NO ONE!!!!! This is what I have been told to do from a legal standpoint.
