Valeant hiring/moving 550 jobs in New Jersey

It's just another money grab ploy. My guess is that Pearson has no intention of creating 550 corporate HQ jobs. It's just a way to add more receivables onto the books to pump up the value when they sell it. The it's the buyer's problem to deliver or have to pay back the state.

Remember, Person just got a sweetheart deal from NY to add 100 jobs in Rochester and the next week laid off ~50 others there. Heck, he can hire them back as part of the 100 and be halfway there for nothing.

There seems to be a very negative perceprtion of Mr Pearson's intentions. Is this just the jealousy of the incompetents or is it well founded ?

Yes, we are all very jealous of the respect he has earned for his accomplishments in the pharma industry and wish we could be half the leader he is. If there were more leaders like him, there would be fewer people like us.

Ok listen up people. This is our real life Bernie Maddoff. Valeant, HELLO WALL STREET, is all smoke and mirrors. How do you really think this will have an sustainability in this industry? Or do you actually care about the new advances in medicine? This is one big PONZI scheme and y'all are, yes making your money at what expense? Do you think greed is that good , that years later your wife, son or yourself need a revolutionary new medication to treat a disorder? Here in America, we are at least 15 years behind our Eurpoean counterparts with drugs and new technology. Mike Pearson and his posse DO NOT CARE about new advances. I can not work for an organization who:ONE does not care about their people, TWO: takes the mindful and unethical route for society purposes to not be thinking of the next generations and FINALLY when you, Mr. Pearson, attend an ACADEMY Meeting dressed the way you had, bulbus belly hanging over your trousers, REALLY? Are you like WHITE TRASH wit LOTS of $$$??? it is a HUGE EMBARASSMENT.

Because your bottom line is to flatly make money and be a greedy SOB- we here at B&L as well as the other business' that you decided to snatch up for sport F***ing Profits sharing with your Wall Street Boys, are and have moved on. The word will get out, you will NO longer be the darling on Wall Street and for what greed and master fuckery you thought to bestow on the people at B&L, Medicis, Obaji and the list goes on, BUT your day will come when you least expect it. Your nefarious side will be exposed and you, Mike Pearson and your cronies will pay. Its called karma.

I like the last post
because it speaks the truth. I have just resigned and exiting in two weeks. Valeant is ruining the core of ethical business. I heard MP state to Howard the financial wizard if few thousand leave it will only help the bottom line.
Valeant is nothing but life snatching leech and if you talk to enough people you will find someone you know who loathes Valeant more that you do.
Here is a fact, by the end of Q1-2014 there will be an additional reduction of 1700 people between Waterford, Rochester, and Tampa.

Excellent. I hope your sarcasm is not lost on this naive poster.

Mr Pearson has a single intention - make as much money as possible, as quickly as possible without regard for anything, and I mean anything, else. Not customers, not patients, not society, not government, and certainly not employees. It is greed in its purest form.

Greed is good.

"Bausch + Lomb has 33 different vice presidents each earning over 200 thousand dollars a year. Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do, and I still can't figure it out. One thing I do know is that our paper company lost 110 million dollars last year, and I'll bet that half of that was spent in all the paperwork going back and forth between all these vice presidents. The new law of evolution in corporate America seems to be survival of the unfittest. Well, in my book you either do it right or you get eliminated. In the last seven deals that I've been involved with, there were 2.5 million stockholders who have made a pretax profit of 12 billion dollars. Thank you. I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them! The point is, ladies and gentleman, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Bausch + Lomb, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.

B+L lost 110 million dollars due to poor management not because the management was not greedy enough. If you think 33 VPs are inefficient then replace them with 20 good ones. Sucking a company dry in the short term is a greed strategy that gives investors a false since of potential future prospects of the company. A successful company has both a short term and long term strategy to take care of investors and employees now and into the future.

Netflix got greedy by trying to charge too much for their service and the stock value dropped like a rock. Netflix then had to reinvent itself with a not so greedy strategy and the company is doing well again.

You said it. OMG - you so said it. Drill this down to DIRECTORS of imaginary and useless departments and you'll finally capture a complete picture of the waste. Look @ California, look @ St. Louis, and especially, look @ Rochester, there are many of us who actually perform value added tasks every day that have a direct relationship to providing a product or service to a customer who in turn pays us money for that service or product - and we too wonder just exactly WHY there are layers upon layers and layers of people gobbling up profit margins who no one would ever notice if they never came into work again. Most of those positions are in Regulatory and Quality. The empire these 2 divisions have created is more than overdue for a collapse. How much longer can these 2 groups continue to be the bottleneck, stifling success and profitability before our new Canadian owners just tell them all to go home and never come back? Keep sayin' what you're sayin' because there are a lot of us out here seeing it too.
