Vaccines, Smoke, Mirrors, & Layoffs

Don’t be fooled people. Layoffs are coming to vaccines. Pay attention. Notice people suddenly becoming full line reps? Notice Ped reps suddenly being trained on Shingrix? Notice territory’s NOT being filled after reps wisely flee GSK and go to a better company? Oh, and any company other than Novo is better than GSK. Notice how crappy our Bexsero and Shingrix numbers are? Bexsero is already garbage and about to get even worse as Covid vaccination moves to Adolescents? Notice how they gave us lunch budgets? Notice how the reps that are leaving aren’t reps that aren’t doing well, but top reps? I’ll just stop here.
Start looking. Dust off that resume.

Thanks captain obvious. A middle schooler couldn't see the writing on the wall. To be honest many of us are newt retirement anyway(myself included) and will gladly take any package, even if less than previous years

Correct. Currently there is a silent layoff/reorganization occurring. Best reps leaving, not backfilling positions, making people full line, etc. The atmosphere has become so unbearable (and they’ve made it that way) knowing it will force those that have any self worth to leave... FLL’s have become micromanaging drill sergeants crating worthless trackers and busy work to justify their own jobs, also to capture as much info for post layoffs so they can transition people around as easily as possible. Don’t know how they live with themselves morally, truly horrible group of people with a few exceptions. Good luck to everyone staying.... the grass is MUCH greener everywhere else. Heck, at least other companies have grass.

The entirety of the VBU will lose much value as new competition enters the market place. The only unique vaccine is Shingrix and it is not enough to float the division. The reduction in value will be such that no competitor will want to buy it and it will become another unit that GSK has run into the ground due to poor leadership from R&D to sales. Most the best reps have left or will be leaving because they understand where this ship is sailing and it is going to sink to new depths. Leadership will continue to paint a rosy picture knowing the end is near, that's just what people in leadership roles are paid to do. Adult rep positions will be history and full line will be the norm as the silent layoffs occur. Best be prepared and have you resume and interview skills sharpened. Decent jobs with a future are very competitive to get. Better to be ahead of the 8 ball rather than behind. Good luck!

Haha. Not sure who replied to my post, but wasn’t me.

If you are working in the VBU right now and see this post, I’d Iike to hear how you like working there. Either- don’t like, or like it. Everyone I know is miserable so I’m curious to see if there is really anyone out there that is happy... new hires and HR need not respond.

Been in the VBU for years. Patient first was all lying and cheating and it is still lying, cheating and collecting a Big Paycheck.

Oh yeah, those HUGE bonus payouts we’ve been getting. Bwahahahaha. Hey- you won presidents club, we’re going to St. Simons Island Georgia, or Colorado, or better yet, nowhere due to Covid (even though it’s safe enough to go out and work).... asshats. Then you’re made to attend a class so that they can write it all off. ABSOLUTE asshats running this place. Friend of mine is going to Maui for a week with his company and getting 18k bonus for the quarter. GSK is pathetic.

My buddy and I both have the same position in field sales, me at GSK, buddy at another big pharma.
Yep, he finished in the top 5 or 10% and they had to downscale their winners circle because of Vid. So this year they are having the trip to Maui for 7 days and six nights. For those who want to opt out of the trip, these folks get an extra weeks vacation and 12k. 12k for cost what would have been 2 people on the trip.
So there are good companies and bad companies. Who do you work for?
