Vacation Time for Allergan reps

3 weeks and 3 personal days until 5 years. At 5 years, you get 4 weeks and 3 personal days plus you get vested in the pension. Abbvie is very generous on adding days of time off to major holidays - please view holiday calendar on HR connect.

I would call HR. They changed the policy a couple years ago.. but since your tenure with Allergan counts you wouldnt start over.. I'm just not sure of the schedule now. At 10 years its 5 weeks, it used to be at 12 years you would get 5 weeks. . So when you get to 4 weeks I havent paid attention. . No shut down between Christmas and NYE. You do get additional 3 personal days. There is a floating holiday that Abbvie assigns. I don't know why that usually adds on to July 4th instead of Presidents Day. A couple of years they surprised us with last minute announcement of an extra day off in December.

The Allergan policy was unlimited PTO and a company shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s
 
























While it sounds great, the reality is people end up taking LESS time off than if there was a defined amount of time. Allergan didn't make that change to unlimited PTO because they're so loving and thoughtful and care about us.

Interesting... sounded odd to me so I did some research and the above is true! People take less time off, like a badge of honor or something... and it can differ based on manager. If I had the choice I would go with a set number of days off vs unlimited PTO too! So I would guess the clock starts when you were hired with Allergan with how many weeks you get off. And you must take it or lose it. Don't forget to take your 3 personal days also
 






The Allergan PTO policy of "unlimited" PTO had only been in effect for a couple of years. My understanding is that they did it for 2 reasons - one was for accounting purposes which helped with their bottom line (don't ask me how) and the second was to align with the trend in the tech industry. Supposedly younger employees were more attracted to this but those of us who have been around a while resented it because all of sudden a new hire/new to industry gets the same PTO (potentially) as someone who has worked for 5/10/15/20 years.....whatever happened to earning your PTO! It is total BS that a new hire out of college or someone with years of industry experience but new to the company both get 3 weeks to start.
