Don't feel bad. Those of us in Penna will get royally screwed. Severance will be counted as income so we will not be eligible for full unemployment benefits. It sucks. So even if I am entitled to the maximum per week, if I get a seevrance, I may not be able to get unemployment for months because of the new rules. Novartis should be paying ALL of us 3 weeks for every year of service. We deserve this after the company completely screwed everything up.
 






You are wrong .... on the PA Unemployment Claims website, it states :

"Severance Pay - Severance pay will not reduce your benefits."

Research your responses before you put something on cafepharma!
 












For NJ- I copied this right from their site-

The amount will be 60% of the average weekly earnings during your base year period, up to a maximum of $611 (in 2012). The maximum amount may change each year.
 






To the poster who wanted me to check my facts on PA unemployment. The web-site has not been updated for 2012. I called the Harrisburg office. Why don't you call yourself. Severance DOES affect your unemployment. Do YOUR research before you post on here. Those of us in the western part of the state know that many of us are gone and there are no jobs out here so that unemployment and severance have to last a long time. Leave it to the State of PA to screw over its citizens. Time to move to Ohio.

Yup, you are right. I don't think there is any mystery why this fellow does not get a job. He seems to do nothing but whine, always in a tirade about why he can't find a job. Isn't it interesting that so many others are employed, but this poor guy just can't find anything.
