I've had MS for 5 years and am not doing well with any of the other drugs. My doctor has suggested Tysabri and I'm trying to obtain as much info about it as possible. Found this site and since Biogen sells the drug was wondering if I could get some comments about how good it is and what kind of dangers there could be. Thank you.

You may find it more helpful to go to patient websites, the MS Society etc.. Here you have competitors and anonymous posts that can be slanderous and untrue. You may get one or two "real" comments but most are just out to bash the company or the drug. Do not rely on the info you get here. This is a discussion board for unhappy and disgruntled employees.

I've been to some patient websites. I like to obtain as much info as possible before making a final decision.

You mention that there is a lot of "bashing" about Tysabri here. Is there a reason for this beyond the typical stuff that one always has to read on the net?

The "bashing" here is a battle between the Biogen diehards and their "enemies." It stems from a very big difference of opinion on the dangers of Tysabri due to PML. The risk of getting PML has steadily increased since the drug was released but the Biogen people feel it's no big deal and still within the published label of the drug. And the minute someone mentions the increased risk factor of PML, the censors jump in and delete the message.

Doesn't sound like a very nice place to visit some of the time. My neurologist told me he is quite concerned about the PML since the risk seems to always be going up. He told me it's my decision in the end and I was hoping to get some info from this site. Guess I should look elsewhere.

This site is for sales reps and others in the pharma and medical device industries. It is a place for them to communicate with each other about their jobs, companies, and the industry. Although anyone may certainly visit and post, please be advised that this site is not intended to provide medical or pharmaceutical advice to patients, and should not be used in this way.

Please do not ask the reps here for advice on drug choice, side effects, etc. This is not the forum for that information. If you have questions or concerns, please speak with your doctor, pharmacist, or contact the companies directly.

Thank you for your understanding with this.
