Two good months

Aren't the pay increases due soon. Wonder will that put a damper on things!

My management was told middle of March for announcement of increases/bonuses. He didn't know if there would actually be any increase/bonus, but that we would find out in March. Also, rumor of a Rochester layoff a few days before increase/bonus announcement. No Idea if there is any merit to that rumor.

Chuck Schumer said last year that Valeant will not layoff in Rochester again. Probably not valid though as Check Schumer does not have any say in what goes on at Valeant. He just jumps on board to any positive news as if he is the one that made it happen. Same thing the the Governor does.

Maybe there will be a layoff announced by Valeant followed by announcements by the Governor and Chuck Schumer that Valeant plans to rehire in 2015. Same as last year. The net loss is less jobs at B+L and in Rochester.

I believe Valeant's plans are to keep each layoff small, so it doesn't make headlines. I don't remember Chucky making a comment on the December layoffs.

Do you really think Valeant worries about making headlines or what out of state (NJ) politicians say? Wishful thinking. They care about one thing, and it is not you.

Welcome to corporate America and to this century! What pharma company cares more about the individual than the whole? If you dont like it you should really look at other options-like opening up your own business where you employ people out of the goodness of your heart. Wish that's how it could be, but its just not! When you do (open your own) give us a shout-you'll have a long line of prospects to hire!

What's your point? Didn't indicate anything that disagrees with your statement. Comment was directed at the prior poster who has his/her head in the sand.

May be true. Bob Dole once quipped that "the most dangerous place in Washington is between Charles Schumer and a television camera". But if it means no layoffs..

I never for a moment thought Valeant cared about me, but they do seem to like being on the same page as NYs senior senator. Chucky is available to the highest bidder, so long as they keep their dirt swept under the rug.

Regardless of what you doomsdayers think B+L will not be a quick death (in Rochester) it will be a slow bleed. The best talent has already left on their own, those of us left are looking for an exit before Valeant shows us the door.

My personal opinion is that Valeant is getting too big to handle too much bad press, so they will not lay off large quantities of people at the same time/location unless it is a new acquisition (aka cut half at purchase, than get rid of the rest in groups, without making headlines). I could be wrong, only time will tell.
