we don't care (most of us) about some bimbo in her 20s or about some overweight doctor that does nothing but prescribe drugs but thinks he/she is smart because they went to school and took a few tests.

sick and tired of people bashing pharma sales.
doctors are the biggest nit wits out there, with their self righteous white robes.
as for the bimbos, they are always going to make money, whether that is pharma sales or porn or a milking a weak rich man who can't think with the big head.
Overall, its the TV that really pisses me off, because that tube is the biggest liar in the world.

I saw the "drug rep" on the show last week. She was dead on, too. Perfect depiction of the typical female rep.
Well she was a bit exaggerated. It's always fun to see a drug rep portrayed on TV. Anyone remember the first TV drug rep? she was on ER.
Honestly, take an objective look at this industry and try not to get disgusted. I did that years ago which is why I left.
I was at a trade show within the past few months and ALL of the sales reps. they had were women under 35 and easily 8s on a scale from 1-10. These were not booth babes you rent.
I went into device and am a very average looking man (hey I can admit it, who cares?). Most of the people on my team are average as well, and my competitors aren't particularly good looking either (men and women). I've come to the conclusion that in real transactional sales, they just care about being corporate and results. When I was in pharma, most of the women were good looking and even the average ones were ones that with a few beers in me i'd be happy to say I banged to my friends.
When your job is a walking commercial, of course you have to be good looking. Sex appeal sells.

Just look at what TV images have done to our 'leadership' standards over the years. It often reminds me of HS class presidents, etc: rarely the most capable, usually the best lookin and most popular.
corporate is still not going to be a great sales job, no matter what.
they own us.
the only point of taking these jobs is to retire early and get away from the grind or to take the money you made and start a business.
its the corporate grind that I detest in pharma. medical device is probably worse. never worked in it, but my friends that do are the biggest drinkers and binge drug users I have ever seen. its funny to see their lack of discipline in life.
Yet, they make good money because they sell ok, I guess. I still think I am better than them in sales, even though I am in pharma, because sales comes down to hard work, and discipline and talking to people.
these bimbo types are funny, they way the walk into offices and don't engage the office is classic non sales behaviore. real sales people are assertive and talk to everyone and get their name out there.
these bimbos just show up and go to the mall in between calls.
