As a VP of purchasing for the past 30+ years, I find it useful to occasionally take a stroll through these boards to get a feel for how truly deviant medical sales folks are capable of being. When I saw the title of this post was "Truth", I could not refrain from responding. "Truth", is the last virtue that I have found to be a part of ANY medical sales Rep, Manager, VP or other form of representatives from these companies. Least not you wonder, I know a few of the two letter names to which you refer but not all. Some of you have even spoken with me on the rare occasion. I have a question for you. Do you truly believe I, we, are that niave? Do you not think we communicate amongst our peers and talk about you by name? Do you not think we know what physicians and staff you whore yourself out to? We let you lay your own trap then bring suffering by forcing you to lower your price. Think about it for a moment, what were we paying you for an AICD 5 years ago. Now that is the truth that stares you in the face so go ahead and keep thinking we are so niave and ignorant as we laugh our way to the bank. And by the way, if you think we are handing it to you, watch as the physician owned ASCs begin to take large bites out of your profits. Oh ye poor little people who think you are so smart, cunning and intelligent. Keep thinking we dont know the truth. That is what gives us the edge over you and all those like you. Keep selling as your ASPs continue to decline. You reference a court case which I did not even take the time to read because we are inflicting more damage than any court would levy. Cheaper by the dozen and pit one bad rep against the other. Use your self perceived strengths against you and capitalize on any weakness. We know when your quarters end and are prepared for the begging for bulks and sales to help you and your manager hit your sales quota so you can get your nice bonus. Your weaknesses are exposed and we again lower ASP. Does any of this sound like the "Truth" to you? We love the game just as much as you and so far we are coming out on top. Thank you, I often say while reading through these boards, for showing us who you really are and for confirming our impressions. Most rewarding for us all.
Sincerely,
Your local VP of purchasing or Product line Manager
