Hello Lundbeck reps:
There are a lot of totally justified issues to complain about, but this post is from a very satisfied Trintellix patient!
Let me start out by saying my grandfather was unipolar, my father SEVERE Bipolar I with incredible mood swings plus PTSD from WW II, as he was with the Axis forces. I am not American, but live very happily in the US.
I have been suicidal several times and had to be removed from work immediately, followed by hospitalization. Tried Serzone, became totally somnolent within 15 minutes... tried Prozac only to sit totally unmotivated at my desk for 4 hours unable to do anything...also within 15 minutes. Hard to believe but true. I have no reason make this up. Zoloft didn't do anything, neither did Lexapro.
Trintellix is the first drug that truly helped me! I have been on it now for 5 years, and the drug has not lost its efficacy, which is remarkable. Trintellix is very well tolerated, I don't even feel I am taking anything. I don't feel "off" as was the case with the other agents. In the past I took Abilify plus Trintellix, but I was able to carefully get off of Abilify 2 years ago.
I am able to hold a job again and live life to its fullest. Don't have to work, but do it because I enjoy it and isolation would not be good for me. In three months I am 69 years old. The way I feel now is the way I should felt all my life and didn't. My psychiatrist is absolutely amazed at my turnaround. I can get Trintellix now for $35 a month on Medicare Advantage, which is a hell of a bargain. Given my history, I will need to stay on it for life. Being severely depressed is an awful black place that I don't want to return to...EVER...! It has been said that Beverly depressed patient have a quality of life lower than cancer patients, which says a lot about this illness.
Thank you for all you do, despite all the obstacles and frustration you face. I for one am incredible thankful for this drug and the service you provide.
Take care!
