Trauma Sales Associate II

I was contacted by your company regarding an opportunity for a Trauma Sales Associate. I wanted to get some insight into this role as the cafe pharma threads, job description, duties and responsibilities are fairly vague from what I have received. I would like to know expectations of this job more specifically, is this an entry level position, what type of movement in the company can someone expect from this role, i.e. advancement into a higher tiered trauma associate etc, does anyone know if this is an exisiting territory or new market, is this position a job or a career because I am not looking for a "job" so to speak, and finally the compensation package, i.e. negotiable base, achievable or stretch goals, caps on bonuses, vehicle reimbursement or car, etc.

I have 8 years experience in B2B sales for consumer package goods where I held various roles from sales, to chain account management, to district manager, etc but I recently jumped into the pharmaceutical market and have a little over a year experience. I also have a MBA which I know doesn't go as far as it used to but still does depending on the company.

Thanks for any information that you can provide.

You are on the wrong website to get your questions answered. You will have to contact the distributor/area vice president directly. Cafepharma is a format for rumors, cheap shots and vulgar language. Good luck!

Any associate role is going to be entry level. In our business it means you will be doing most of the grunt work for the senior rep you are working with/for. It is not the most glorious of roles, but you will get to be in the OR quite a bit and it is a great learning opportunity. You will learn logistics as well as case coverage skills. You will be able to in-service and train staff on your products and surgical techniques.
Comp will vary depending on geography and the distributor you work for, you should expect to stay in that role for 18-24 months before having a shot at a territory of your own. If you want to get into device and out of pharma, this is a solid shot even if it means a pay cut for the next 2 years.
Good luck!

Look at the facts
2+ years ago Zimmer wanted to start its own direct sales force
the current group of RSD's screwed it up sooo bad it was doomed from the start
they probably planned it that way to protect their jobs
Zimmer hired MS to head the division who had never even worked in ortho much less trauma
hired over 40 new reps and RM's
back stabbed TR who was the only reliable person in the division
hired an idiot for NSM with little man disease
tried to set the ship by bringing a guy form Tornier in
finally for the most part folded the whole thing up vast majority of reps and RM's left

David Blue sunk the ship. Worthless holly roller.
