Can someone give me an idea what to expect in training?
I recieved a verbal offer last week, and just got the written offer. I guess it is offical. I think it is two weeks long, but I was curious if it is business casual, 8-5 or 9-5, do you travel up on a Monday or the Sunday before? What is the layout? Pretty much anything you could add would be apprecitated.
Thank you,

all pharma training stinks. Otsuka training isn't terrible, but it's not great. There's those stupid meetings at night. Days are long! Food is awful, and you don't get hardly any breaks. I remember getting like 20 minute lunches and they brought in awful food. We went until like 5:30 or 6 sometimes and then back to study group at 7 or so. It was not fun. You deal with it and move on.

I have to say your experience was completely different that mine. For starters I had home study for about 6 weeks. It was broken up by a 2 day HR session in New Jersey. The rest I did at my own pace with 4 product knowledge exams over that time. The training in New Jersey was very reasonable. 4 days total, small class, and the training department was energetic, but realistic because all of us had previous pharma experience. There was also a 4 day at home web-based training session which we did on our lap-tops.

Overall it was the easiest pharma training I have been through, and I have just under 20 years in the industry. Maybe its different outside the neuro-science division. So overall I spent about 2 months in training, most of it at home and I got paid to do it. NO complaints.

My experience was totally different from yours. Ours was not broken up. It was a fairly small class, but it was not great training. It was stressful and the tests were difficult.

So , there is a big effort to hire diverse candidates?? So if I am not a minoirty , i need not apply?

Not true at all.. I interviewed in Dallas and everyone there was either white or Asian, half men/women ratio.. Typical of what you see at most meetings in this industry. The managers/directors who interviewed me were all white men/women.. I see the racist poster on all the Otsuka boards, they're just trying to stir the pot.
