Top Paying Medical Device Jobs

That is an exageration.. The salary is only $45k, then its all commission and depends on your territory. You can only make 10k in commission and its a 55k job, or if your territory does well, you can make around $100k. Most people are not making anywhere near what they thought.

Wow, I've seen this same conversation about 60 times on here. I work for a division of ethicon (not endo) and made more than 100k in the first half of the year. And no, I don't have a high volume territory, I'm paid on growth, and that's where you make money. If you didn't, then it's your own fault for not doing your research. No one has ever claimed EP or EWHU made that much, so don't complain when you're shocked it doesn't happen. "Ethicon" is used too often as a blanket term to cover about 8 different business units. It's the same as saying Stryker ortho pay blows because ascent reps are trash men in bunny suits who get paid accordingly.

First you are a true asshole for talking about how much you made when people just lost jobs. Second how much of that YTD total was from income earned last year that was paid out during the first months of the year?

List your division lady.

Well put!

My response was to the statement about comp, which was the question asked. From what I read no one asked, "Hey, how does everyone feel about the layoffs?" How about you two stop high-fiving each other, and start filling out some applications. You're in sales. If you or your pipeline fail to produce, you're canned. This isn't "daddy's bank" with unlimited job security.

ok csucker you had one year where you got a GPO win that you had nothing to do with and you make great money the first half of the year. good for you. it is a big step up for you from last year at cintas or adp and you are jacked up doing inventory for sutures.

what a dick.

Ok, well this person obviously can't read. Again for the slow minded, working for a company that has "ethicon" in the title does not mean you have anything to do with suture. Never sold dry cleaning, copiers, or any of the of crap that people like you assume you have to do first because you read it online somewhere. Also I've been doing this for 6 years, it's called working your territory not job hopping to secure a low baseline.

Former Ethicon Rep, and now Intuitive Surgical. At Plan Ethicon Reps made 180K at Exec Level, but the real money is in top 10% with which my division was 280k plus or minus 10K depending on the year. Left to go to Intuitive Surgical as Area Sales manager and at Plan they make 290K but realistsically most make 450-650K. Last year top reps made just over a million. Hope that helps. I havent found a company that pays higher than Intuitive- but the Culture here is tough and not for most (not even for me but for now I am hanging in there :).

haha! please. Recruiters are begging people to fill these positions. I had 3 different recruiters call me about a position in my area. They are flooding the market with reps that are making 170-180k. Selling the actual robot might be more, but being the clinical person is nothing close to that.

Ha Ha.....anyone making over 100K selling med devices is about to have the rug pulled out from them.....YOU are a part of the healthcare COST problem!! None of you dickheads need to be making that much money selling this crap, it only drives the cost of the product UP!!
Remove the overhead of high salaries and I'll purchase your crap! Otherwise, shut the hell up and join the unemployment line along side everyone else!!

Hey man it's not our fault that your job in purchasing only pays $50k/year and the only time you can leave the hospital basement is for your two 15 min breaks. Instead of hating on people who are successful why not try to strive to become one of them?

Right....50K/year....ha, ha, maybe when I first started. I make alot more than that especially with bonuses that are attached to conversions/cost savings. Happy to have a job I love and not worried about job security.....sounds like you should redefine what it means to be successful. I'm not the one on CP whining about JNJ and how mean my big bad DM is or who's getting cut? how many are getting cut?,....blah blah blah.....very boring, grow up and get a real job and a real life.

But you are on the board crying about reps!? How is this different?

So let me get this straight, you're on CP telling reps that they are the reason for the increases in health care but you work for a hospital and are bragging about how much you make?

I worked in the hospital setting for 5 years and our hospital inefficiencies are just as much to blame for the increase in healthcare costs as anything else.

However, the real increase in healthcare costs aren't reps salaries or what a purchaser makes each year. It is because the healthcare system prefer to be reactive instead of proactive when dealing with disease. For example, obesity and it's links to diabetes, heart disease, etc. is and will continue to be a huge drain on the system unless we deal with it differently. We either allow everyone to have bariatric surgery (which is unrealistic) or find a way to get to these people before they become obese.

I'm sure it is easy for you to point your finger at a rep and say, "You're the reason why healthcare costs are so high...", however, you compare that salary to someone who has long term health issues because of diabetes, obesity, heart disease, etc. that could have been dealt and corrected with at an earlier stage of the disease, the cost is much greater than whatever a rep would make.

Oh and one last thing, "get a life"? That's a phrase that you are going to use? What is this, 1996? And what exactly is a "real job"?
