Its hilarious how jealous people are who A) could never get a job in pharma or B) got dismissed from pharma.
The people in category A who are making $45,000 selling various products can't understand why pharma reps make so much money. The main reason in my opinion is that pharma is paying a premium for people who they think won't get them lawsuits. Obviously there are still lawsuits from a few bad eggs, but the thought is to minimize them. If Novartis or any other pharma company went out and hired the best used car salesmen in the country, they would have higher sales but would get killed with lawsuits because the best used car salesmen generally will do anything to get a sale. Novartis doesn't want that. They want people they can train to be "robots" which means stay within PI, use PF selling, etc. They pay reps more because of this. You will see even more of this moving forward. I suspect only kids right out of college will be targeted because they haven't been through the "glory days" of bringing pens to offices, having primary care speakers and having lunches with providers that don't appear on a public website.
The people in category B need to move on. I am probably going to be in this group very soon and I can promise you that I will not be trolling the Novartis board on CP after my dismissal. Its time to move on. You have been out of the company for over a year at least and were given a generous severance package. Grow up and get a job, albeit at a less salary and benefits, etc. I am trying to come to grips with that now in preparation. So sad that people 12 months after are still clinging to some sort of revenge by posting negativity on some silly message board that no one takes serious.
