Thoughts on today's Salix conference call?

And when???? Interesting that there are going to only be individual territories. No pods. No mirrors. Makes for less reps, larger territories. Which makes me wonder if my mid sized city will need the 4 reps we currently have.

I feel less secure also. I did not feel very welcomed, more so just as if this call was another check box in their acquisition. I'm not saying I want to be best friends but at least say "good morning or something. Very rigid and cold. 42 slides where at least half talked was about what a great company it is and their 50 products. More questions and still no answers...thanks for the Christmas gift Salix!

You were expecting more. Not likely. Salix does not have a great reputation when it comes to their employees. Totally different culture than Santarus. Turn out the lights, the party's over.

I thought the call was cold and uncomfortable. It seemed more like an investor call than a welcome aboard call. I am going to keep an open mind, but the call was not the best way to start off the relationship.

When Salix acquired Oceana 2 years ago they brought us all to Raleigh before Thanksgiving. Put us up in a luxury hotel. Wined & dined us. Gave us all offer letters by December 1st. No one had to interview for their new position. They needed us because no one had device experience. And 6 months later they let all the Solestsa Reps go. Forced marriages rarely work out but if you are a valuable cog you should be ok for awhile. Oceana management looked out for us and secured a decent severence anticipating the outcome. Hopefully your management did the same. Good luck to you all.

Lot of good that "device experience" did. Oceana never sold any reimbursed units of Solesta! Just gave away evaluation units.

Wow that is so not true. Feeling a bit defensive? 200 Solesta Rep's and how are sales? Yeah I thought so. We did more per rep per sales day for the short time we had it (4 months) then you all have done in 2 years. Being true device rep's makes a difference vs you pharma pukes pretending.

Buy-and-bill reimbursement and specialty pharmacy insurance reimbursement are two different issues. No one in their right mind are going to take on the risk of a 4k implant that is new technology and buy-and-bill until commercial payers, Medicare and Medicaid have reimbursed history and there is a unique L-Code and CPT. That all takes time (years). We were told that flat out by the colorectal surgeons. But Salix took focus over to GI's. Big mistake.

Thoughts from an outsider who has been following this acquisition. There is YET to be a friendly, positive acquisition where the company bought ends up being fully retained (aside from BMS buying DuPont in '01).....lots of short term "false promises" that never pan out. Don't think that Salix will do anyone here any favors. It's the way of the world.

Does anyone know if Salix has figured out territories, product mix and maybe even which reps will be offered a position? If so, one would guess it's really all about geography?
