This place is insanity!

I have been here for over 5 years. Came from big pharma and was blown away by the culture and company. In all my years in the industry I have never seen a company and culture change so drastically in such a short time. It’s easy to see that home office and management are in total self preservation mode, no recourses are being put behind Viv and metrics are more important than anything else. It’s sad this was a great company, a lot of good people have left….more are looking to leave.

I remember a time when the only agenda was to get help to as many people as possible. That was years ago. Now? It’s a cover your ass mentality, with no regard for others. Throw your team members under the bus to try to save your ass. It’s shameful and so very disappointing.

Remember when we used say "culture eats strategy for lunch"? I think the newer culture is feasting.

It is distressing what is going on with Alkermes. My manager is trying to be a good manager to the reps, but at the same time trying to appease and satisfy a brutally self centered, egotistical, frigid regional manager. Knee jerk, short sighted upper management has ruined this company.

I’ve been here long enough to remember when patients mattered, when we were encouraged to think about our business and go where we knew we could drive results. I remember when goals were reasonable, and not created to pay out fewer bonus dollars. I recall when talent mattered and it was shown on the leaderboard. That was long ago. Sales matter over lives today. We can’t own our own business, we’re told who to call on knowing they won’t produce but our feedback isn’t considered. 5 calls a day trumps 1 4 hour meeting with key decision makers. Take vacation AFTER you hit every metric. Send out emails to check the box, even if 2 out of 100 are ever read. Work harder, not smarter, miss goal. Miss it a few times, go in a plan.
I miss helping people and being compensated consistently and fairly. I miss the stock price soaring because we weren’t managed like cattle. We could think, and our thoughts mattered. Such a tragedy, mostly for patients, but also our loved ones who see us killing our selves….and still coming up short. It all begins with Leadership. They need a refresher on how to motivate your employees. And they need to listen.

True words.
