This is paralyzing us all.

We all know it is coming and we know it's going to be bad. It is the not knowing when it will be and if it will be me (for sure). I have a friend at Astra and they are having a lay off. They know when and how many. I wish Novartis would do at least that much for us. Everyone is trying to go through the motions, but it is almost impossible to be productive. I wish they would just get it over with so I could put 100% into getting another job. If I had the option I would rather stay, but for God's sake just tell me!!

To the OP: I completely feel your pain. Ummm, yea, how can you keep your mind on in-depth conversations when your life is being turned (potentially) upside down!!! Just do the minimum with what you can get away with, fake the rest, and then go take a coffee break to gather your thoughts and work on your resume and NETWORKING. Reality is, you need to take care of yourself. It is brutal out there in the interviewing world, but it is possible. You need to prepare yourself NOW. Novartis isn't going to look after you because it is just business. If you still have a job after the layoffs, then you can work extra hard. Now, do what you need to do to take care of yourself! :)

Good advice. I hope everyone is holding up ok. Your meetings must be hell this week. In their defense, Novartis just got hit with major unexpected news so are still figuring out the size of the layoff.
