Thinking of accepting PCP

Here. Here's a handy flowchart for you.

1.) Do you have a job?

A.) Yes
B.) No (Proceed to #2)

2.) Do you really need a job?

A.) Yes (Proceed to #3)
B.) No

3.) Do you have multiple offers from several companies?

A.) Yes
B.) No (Proceed to #4)

4.) Take the job with Allergan.

Well if you need a job then you gotta take it unless you have another offer. If you need it then take it and keep looking for something else.
If your in the South region then it’s a churn and burn mentality and they’ll try to keep your FCRs at below expectations at all times so they can manage you out quickly at any time.
We have had 5 lay offs in the past 4-5 years so you won’t have job security.
Selling 4 drugs at a time is impossible so you’ll only make commission if you’re 100% lucky. And remember job we ruity is tied in to your ranking selling 4 drugs weighted at 25% each.
The base pay will be entry level around $55-$60k regardless of experience or success. 15 years and 15 presidents club awards? Congrats you get $60k base and if sell all 4 drugs at 100% of goal all 4 quarters then you’ll make about $24k in commission..so basically if you’re extremely lucky lol

I would not work for Allergan. Work anywhere but here.

Thank you, I had a feeling this was the case.

This poster is full of shit. Took a primary care job in the south in 2016. Had many years of pharma experience but none in sales. Started me at $75K and made about $25-30K in bonus. Moved onto a better company now and making $125K base (no longer primary care but specialty). Allergan has issues so avoid if you can. Most of the good DM's were let go. The ones left are idiots.

I am a former DM from the South. Was let go in the last set of layoffs. We had our marching orders. I had to “manage out” really good reps because of their numbers. Their behaviors were excellent but I had to fill out their FCR as below expectations or I’d get fired. Selling 4 drugs with multiple crossover partners is virtually impossible but nothing I could do about it.

Also do you know how difficult it is to find good reps when we can offer $60k max for base? Part time reps at other companies make that. He’ll hospice reps can make that or more. We basically had to accept contract type reps for that $ amount.

Depends on your manager. Risky to work here with lots of layoffs. Pay is entry level. 3 to 4 products in your bag. Huge territories
Risky to work here is spot on. Be aware and research the culture as you interview. I'm a dm and the morale, happiness and energy of our teams is at an all time low. Trying to do my job in a basic way and not having much luck. reps are tired of the low pay and difficulty achieving their bonuses.

Would this company be a good place to get a start in outside pharma?
I'm considering a position and coming from inside pharma sales with a background of outside sales and field management in another industry.

It's hard to get your foot in the door.

If you don’t have a choice, sure. If you have a background, I would not come here. You’ve been warned.
