Lilly does live by the value of "Respect for People". It's just that Lilly leadership defines "People" as those who make $500,000 a year or more. Everyone else is just a "Peon" which does not deserve respect. Lilly valued Mr. Paul, who was making more that a million a year. Someone of his lifestyle needs the extra boost in his pension to support his personal hobbies. Peons should be happy with their rations and should thank the great Lilly leaders every chance they get.
