The walk of shame

Sorry folks, I agree with the store.

UNLESS she was sitting there breastfeed with a cover over her breast and the baby. And don't hand me the crap about the kid can't breathe with a cover over him.....

No one would have known if she had just covered herself up.

Ditto's.

But, but, but - I thought you've always said, "Relax - it's only a boob!"

PS California has a law stating breastfeeding in public is legal.

It is a boob. But I've always maintained breastfeeding should be done out of the public eye. It's a personal time between momma and baby, and should not be flouted out in public. It's just my opinion and feeling.

I realize it legal in a lot of places.

If I'm having a party, and someone whips out their boob to express milk (because it's time to express) or breastfeed their baby, I'm gonna ask them to go to the bedroom and close the door.

The women I associate with have done this in the past.

Ever notice, that Women who Breastfeed in public, have Titties that NO ONE wants to see anyway?

Hell, many have asses and bellies I'd rather not see. Does that mean they should disappear just to please me? I guess what I'm saying is this: If we are 'supposedly' a country built on the basis of 'god' (in god we trust one our money) why then, if he designed the perfect food for his perfect fetuses which we shall not abort, why can't we feed them in public the same way we show our money with his name all over it? Why is 'formula' (a creation of man for financial profit) preferable to HIS creation?

Decorum and class are the key Vag. All that I am asking, is that you use a little common sense, and NOT make a spectacle of yourself. There is a way to do things, and a way NOT to do things.

I hear you and I agree on the diaper changing. That was inappropriate in a restaurant. But I've also been to that exact sore (Anthropoligie) in Beverly Hills and I seriously doubt that an upscale woman with a child's face covering her breast would upset the mostly female clientele of the store. It wasn't like it was out on a street corner or in a restaurant. I've seen women breastfeed before and still have a hard time imagining why it upsets people. Oh well.

You're nit picking again Vaggie....and no one brought up asses.

Your comment addressed the idea that something on a human you 'didn't care to see' should be banned from public. You don't wanna see titties, I don't wanna see fat asses or bellies. I don't even wanna see all titties but if it's feeding a kid, like you've said many times before -it's only a boob - get over it. And especially in the women's department of Anthropoligie in Beverly Hills. It isn't lie it's by a window next to the street.

I guess I missed the part where she was covered up. If that's the case, she could have done that in one of the dressing rooms.

I guess my question (again) is, which is the more preferable method of feeding - natural or man's conversion cowmilk made for profit? Next question - since both are legal, which is better - man made? Or made by god? I'm still cracking up over this one. The hypocrisy of Christians is amazing.

What does Christianity have to do with breast feeding or buying formula

BTW, A woman can express her milk BEFORE SHE LEAVES HER HOUSE and put it in a bottle if she's going to be out when feeding time occurs. There are plenty of ways to keep it at the correct temperature.

Re your first comment. My daughter is in this situation right now. 1) It's a lot of work but she sure tries. 2) sometimes she just can't get enough and the baby will need to be fed quickly. 3) There's a phenomenon known as 'nipple confusion' (not the same as Libs, BN and I have) when the baby doesn't take the bottle at that exact moment and what really is most important? 4) Thank god we live in an area where the majority of people don't freak out over a very natural thing. Some people in some places just don't have enough to do.

Criminals? Yes - the walk of shame.

Honest mothers trying to tend to their babies in the best way? Hardly.

2nd comment: which religion objects the most to breast exposure in public? For the most part, it ain't us atheists. It's primarily the ones who left the playground (noam sayin'?).
;)

To end the discussion, fortunately this is legal in our state as well as many others. And also fortunately, the store has the right to ask her to leave. And finally - fortunately this woman has the right to begin a boycott (which she has). And finally, fortunately this response hit them in their pocketbook, they have apologized and promise it won't happen again. So when in CA, you'd best avoid this store - even though it's a very cool store that primarily caters to chicks.

I have been with sales counterparts at POA's who were breastfeeding their babies -- they expressed before they left their house and froze more than enough for while they were out of town away from the baby.

My sister in law gave her extra to the hospital neonatal care unit -- they keep it frozen as well.

I have not heard of anybody not having enough breast milk if they're feeding every 2 to 3 hours (which most newborns require) -- it takes a while to come in, but once it does, there's no stopping it.

Your daughter may want to get one of the expressing machines that will make more milk available. The more milk that's expressed, the more milk will be available.

This is exactly what California law states - Section 43.3 of California’s Civil Code states that “a mother may breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, except the private home or residence of another, where the mother and the child are otherwise authorized to be present.”
it's legal in public but the exception is someone's private home where they do not wish it to occur. Why don't these 'women who are so concerned' because they are shopping in a store catering to women simply look at something else? Like for example, look at what they're shopping for. ;)
