The Truth

‘Leadership’, and I use that term lightly, are simply trying to protect their jobs. All franchises are bloated with too many people - sales reps, reimbursement, managed care, clinical educators, marketing, training, etc. BUT if heads are cut, they too may be on the chopping block. So the hunger games continue.....

The truth is only a few products are driving growth. I see more layoffs coming in some of the bloated divisions. Luckily I’m in MS division and we should be a growth driver for the next 10 yrs.

Obviously you don't know the complexities of the MS market. First off our product is THE growth driver for Genentech so reducing headcount makes absolutely no sense. If anything we will be expanding. For the Debbie downers on this board- you will see soon enough.

You couldn’t be more wrong. Sorry but you will see by the end of the year what is fact and what is fiction. MS is over inflated. Territories are too small for 1 product.

The Truth- that makes me laugh. One thing you will never get from Genentech is the truth. I'm not sure why they think we can't handle it or like it's some big secret. My manager has gone so corporate it's hard to talk to him any more. Funny thing is, before he was a manager, he bashed upper management worse than anyone I have ever seen.

Don’t get comfortable is right biosimiliars are coming and even the MS division is going to take a hit from biosimiliar CD20.
Bio oncology is going to drop to 70 reps per franchise within two year or less..functional partners are goin to take a hit as well if they are not driving revenues.

I do not wish ill will on people generally however the fact that many FRM’s are sucking off the revenue CS’s generate has to end. Show me a proactive FRM in any franchise in this company and I’ll tell you you’re looking at an outlier.
Another truth is that those who have become new managers within he past 6-8 years generally become brainwashed and forget what life was like as a CS. Trust goes to shit and you become a peon with their thumb on your back.
Truth #3, the MS rep who chimed in prior probably is doing very well so far and “feels” that they are indispensable, likely a Biogen outsider who has the war of senior leadership. Word to the wise, don’t get jaded here, you’ll fall hard when the situation changes.
Hey BA, how’s Grand plan going?

Oh another "know it all" talking. As someone who was very very successful as a CS and now an FRM on the other side of the business I can see you're clueless, and i cant blame you as you are not an FRM. Im sure "Proactive" to you means working for you, and closing your cases, and getting the sales for you in place of you doing what you can with your portal. FRMs have to follow strict rules of engagement with customers, different from a CS, and we educate on reimbursement as you educate on the science. Frms cant close a case or make a lazy office worker fax, sign or send in a document, let alone follow up with insurers or patients. Its not the FRM's job to proactively follow up on your specific cases, thats your job and why you have a portal. Just as your customers perform more efficiently with education so would you!! Remember you have a tiny territory thats needs managing, we FRMS have double or triple what you have in accounts, cases, and geography, meetings, partners. Its not all about you, i know its hard to see that as a CS, as i was like you. Knowledge is power

Maybe you fit this but not mine

Keep up the great work!!!

You can purchase Roche (Genentech and holding companies for you rocket scientists) stock today cheaper than 5 years ago. This is before the biosimilars. Keep in mind an aging population will also place pressure on medicare to lower reimbursements.

Again keep up the great work!!! Please do not forget my starbucks next time you come to me office.

The cutting edge science used to come from Genentech. That is no longer true. Its coming from small biotechs, or larger Pharma Keytruda, Opdivo etc. Genentech is a shell of its past self. Genentech has lived off its Avastin, Rituxin, Herception like an aging rock who had hit songs in the past but never again. There is nothing to send this stock higher

What about Lucentis prefilled syringe? Isn’t that the game changer everyone expected it to be??!!

There is NO Genentech, there is ONLY Roche, and that says it all. BioOnc is finished, it was a good run, but Roche does not do that research. It is no longer a profitable space for us.
