If you can't guarantee the best educated scientists 30+ years of job security in pharma, they can and will go elsewhere. After all they are smart.

But, since y2k or thereabouts, everyone expects some cute application to tell them how to think, what to do next.... it's like TV 24 hours a day.

Think for yourselves, and you will get your pipeline. But not so fast. Who trusts you?

But the sales brochure, that I read on the plane, tells me that the application will do the job of 20 scientists and all for only $49.98. Plus the application never needs the leadership skills that I don't have. Also, at $49.98, there's a lot more cash left over for my bonus. I like my bonus. $$JL$$

One day I took my kids to my old stomping ground in LRL. It was 8 pm. Scientists in white coats worked tirelessly for the next big thing. My littlest one says to me, "Daddy, how come they don't have a life? They should be watching TV." Enough said. From that day on, I took time out with my kids every night - to watch TV. Life is too short.
