The Psych Team Could Have Saved Chantix...

How many times was the Pfizer CEO asked to testify at a Navane, Sinequan, Zoloft, Xanax XR, Geodon or Pristiq suicide trial? ZERO--because mental health specialists were on the team from the beginning, and were managing the highest risk patients. I hope Pfizer gets nailed to the wall because they knew the risks but buried the psych problems seen in the clinical trials, and deliberately kept psychiatrists out of the loop when the drug was launched. As a result, psychiatric issues have become the nail in the Chantix coffin, and I hope Pfizer has to pay out hundreds of millions from the law suits. Actually, members of the Chantix DMT and some upper management hacks should do hard time as a result!

You're full of yourself. Psycs were called on and had little interest in prescribing this drug. The problem was that not enough patients were enrolled in the trials to predict what side effects might occur. In addition physicians prescribed Chantix with little or no counseling or having them come back for followup. If a patient is thouroughly counseled on what can happen, the results might have been different. The majority of physicians had little or no interest in having patients come back.

Exactly my point--which is why psychiatrists should have been managing the tougher patients. Psychs don't try to fix everything in one visit, and they are VERY intested in patients coming back for follow up visits. Apparently you are full of more than yourself...

And just exactly how would they have managed these tough patients. It's easy to make statements like you have made and never sold one prescription of Chantix. I'll remind you that Psychs were not the high prescribers of this class of drugs. The mechanism of action of Chantix should have warranted that patients who were patients of Psycsh should never be placed on Chantix. By the way, not to brag, but I was the TOP performing sales reprsentative for Chantix in our my region one year in its sales heights, so I do know what I am talking about. Yes, I am full of myself. I could have told you that this was coming because primary care physicians had no interest in followup of most patients.
