The pharma trend that should scare the crap out of medical device sales reps

It's not a matter of "if" this happens in the Medical Device space it's "when". Maybe individual product lines and situations will be sheltered but it will impact us all. If the amount of reps decreases by 50% the competition for every sales job will drive down the cost (and compensation) of sales reps. It's simple economics, add in the 1,000s of hungry college grads and early 20s reps with a few years of copier sales that think Med Device is the cash cow it was 20 years ago, and well....you decide

I say, let it happen. Then, go back to hiring SCIENCE majors who understand their customer profile and product. Bring back quality not quantity with wisdom and experience to apply to the sales cycle for a close.

Oh, the wonders of it all....

For sure, science majors open boxes in a much more scientific way!

Thank you for the intellectual insight! The point here is that we have to move away from the box opening mentality of the Arthex's & S&N's of the works if we are to survive. To continue to do the sane thing & expect to maintain any credibility in the future of device sales would be foolish
