Listen up all ye Merckoids...These thoughts come from a positive place, not trying
to inflict pain, or take joy in the misery that being a Merck rep brings these days...Take it
from one who has been through the pharma rep wars, there is a better way to live!! (Than being a slave to Merck, and your CTL's whims...)
As most of you know, the pharma industry continues to de-volve into some bizarre, Orwellian nightmare...Tracking your every move, as if you were an animal on the Serengheti Plain...So, what is it that keeps you "trapped" in this viscious, (and I do mean viscious) circle??
In a word- Materialism...You all (like I) bought into the whole American concept of more consumption being better...Newer is better...Bigger is better...The latest hand held gadget is better, and will make your life better...That new Dyson vaccum (and they are awesome- I must admit) will somehow change your life and bring you the happiness and fullfillment you so desperately seek...
This keeps all of you trapped...You know what I am talking about...that nagging feeling that you would quit toxic Merck, "If only I could afford to." Now that I have been out of the pharma rep scam for several years, (A road that leads to nowhere for most) I have learned to live another way...I only have kept what I use, and sold the rest...I am lighter, have more freedom, and generally happier not to have to wake up and deal with another insipid manager, or ridiculous teleconference...
Sure, it was fun to scan the NMIP website for the latest stuff, (If I just had one of those - I would finally be happy.) but at the end of the day, it ends up being more clutter around your overpriced house. (that you probably can't afford, but continue to own so you can keep up with the Jone'es.
You can find the courage to find a life outside of Merck...It is really not all that anymore anyway...An ugly, corrupt company that rewards sociopathic behaviors...
Enough with the "stuff" already people!! That is what keeps you in the Golden Handcuffs, with constant anxiety about when the layoffs finally hit your group...
Peace out and best of luck to all Merck reps that want a way out...
