The Impact of Innovation

The use of innovation does have a tremendous impact on how the healthcare industry operates within our communities. It is important to remember that technology, furthering education within the field, and using newer innovative practices is pertinent within the healthcare industry as well. One of the recent impacts of innovation within the healthcare sector is the use of wearable technology. Google Glass is wearable glasses with technological advances inside of the frames by displaying information in the field of view of the user (Bilton, 2015). Dr. Grossmann was the first physician to wear Google Glass while he was performing a necessary surgery on a patient (ReferralMD, 2013). Dr. Grossmann thinks that wearable technology will allow better interaction between patients and their physicians by making doctors more efficient in performing their jobs (ReferralMD, 2013). When physicians can perform their duties more effectively, then this will create more patients that are happy with the services that they receive.

The main reasons that innovations are so predominant within the healthcare industry are due to the changes within healthcare that are needed to provide better care for their patients (Carroll & Frakt, 2017). Although these newer technological advancements are significant, there still needs to be additional testing to ensure that the products can withstand the demand of the patients and physicians. Keeping your mind open to change within the healthcare field will enable individuals to become more adaptable when the change does arrive. Innovations in the healthcare field allow for the donations of life-saving organs to recipients, more advancements in medical equipment and facilities, and these innovations can be used for the fabrication of organs so that a patient can have a better quality of life.
