The Darkened Playground

Actually, I just looked at Darkened Playgrounds where it says 'Boards' and under 'last post' it says, 'never' then under 'posts' and 'threads' there is a 0 under each. It's as if it never existed. This is odd because the poli board which was closed in July of 2012 still retains all it's posts and post counts. Take a look.

Odd indeed but just a different way of pointing it out.

It's definitely odd and atypical of the way they generally handle things. Also very interesting that someone who is rarely here would be the very first to pick up on it and then post it here! And ditto with the cuts after p. 32 of back threads. Hmmm..........

Yes, very interesting......Hmmm very interesting indeed...

Look at who's the last poster on the Poli Board. That's why it's still up.

To end the guessing, all you needed to do was read the announcement that was posted last week:
...we will be removing threads that have been inactive for at least three years. If you wish to save any threads last active in 2010 or before, please do so before this time.

Every several years, it is a normal maintenance task to prune old, inactive threads. This helps the the board (particularly the search functions) to run more quickly and smoothly. When this task was performed last week, all threads that had not had any posts after 2010 were removed. Apparently, the Darkened Playground board had been closed to posting prior to this date, and therefore all threads were removed in the purge. The Political Boards was closed later, and thus still has some threads that remained.

Well, it IS kind of hard to post on a forum that has been CLOSED. No wonder it was inactive.

I'm not sure I understand your point. We weren't removing threads simply because they were inactive. We were removing inactive threads to make the database leaner and faster, thus helping board performance. It's a pretty common task that large forums perform from time to time...

You've answered my question.

So why the 'never' and 00?

Because there are zero posts and threads on the board. Pretty simple :). I've removed it from the listing now.

Why not delete the Political Board then? No one has been able to post since July 2012. Makes ZERO sense to keep anything if no one can post on it.
