The CSR position for 2013...A Good Gig?

I was recently contacted by a recruiter about a CSR opportunity. Is the culture here still toxic? Has the technology hit a wall or is there still potential for significant growth? Your thoughts?

You've come to the wrong place for any reasonable information about what it is like to work at Intuitive. The VAST majority of people on this board are sour ex-employees. Not sure why they continue to troll this board and display the chips on their shoulders, but they do.
Find a local rep and ask them what it is like.

amen!

As a current member of the ISI cult... there have been some ups and some downs. The technology is great. However, the management staff is sooo focused on delivering feedback (relevant or not - to justify their jobs) that they often lose sight of what management is about - developing people. Oh wait, CSRs are not seen as people, only a means to an end. In feedback, you will deal with personal assaults (really, they will bring your personal hobbies and family relationships into the mix to prove a point), pointed ridicule on how 99.6% is not the company standard. To everyone's point... putting my money where my mouth is - leaving the company as soon as possible. Looking for another job now. The money is not worth the literal hell of constantly being told: "you are not good enough", how "your family must be worried given your performance", how "your past 5 president's club winnings don't mean a thing if you are only hitting 110% to quota... sandbagger", how "the perception of management is all that matters... don't screw it up", how "selling surgeons is priority #1... and... um patients... of course", how "selling these surgeons is soooo easy... you must be completely clueless..." and when you have a field ride with a manager... and he fails completely because the surgeon thinks he's an arrogant jerk (and says he never want to see him again... ever).... wait, wait... all of a sudden that surgeon is impossible because god almighty (manager - CSM) was not able to sell him. But don't worry, the feedback will be that you did not set the right expectation in making sure your manager had a good grasp on the surgeon. The second feedback will be about your epic failure to sell that same surgeon. The third feedback will be how you failed a precall plan for that surgeon. The fourth feedback will be making sure you sell him that same quarter or you will be a failure that can't get it done (albeit a quota attainment of 122%... killing it)".

Ok. Done with the rant... Needed to vent. Been here 4 years... never been more miserable. Moving on with my life... Run… don’t look back… Just run.

Nice cut and paste from another thread. Rather than giving advice to others- why don't you take your own advice and run. When the world seems to be conspiring around you and you can't figure out why, perhaps it's time to look in the mirror. Please run and don't look back.

You are absolutely right! I am running... I did post this on two different topics given its relevancy. Looking in the mirror, as you stated... Brings me to one truth... I am better than what they want to break people down to be. You can make great money, but at what expense? Changes need to be made... Let me know when your idea has ever been recognized... Oh wait... Thats right... It never will. Because your ideas are never your own and you will only be as good as your worthless manager will allow.

This does serve as advice to others... Just not the advice you would want others to believe... But that's ok. When the dust has settled, there will be one thing left. Truth... In the destructive culture, in the lack of managerial self awareness, and most of all, in the director's who pat themselves on the back on what a great job they have done at every sales meeting (having missed quota) - still believing feedback is key, and praise is for the... Oh wait.... It doesnt exist.

Conspiracy? Please... But if you cant read between the lines, let me make it clear... For advice sake.

1. If you (as a candidate - which is everyone now given the fact theyve burned through talent) believe you are a good fit, by all means, apply and good luck.
2. actually... There is no two... I should just say good luck... And maybe write a book about it. You know the pages with the strange thingies on them that form words that make sentences?

Good luck.

News flash...half of you clowns are going to be out of a job anyway once all the dirty laundry is exposed, sales stall and your stock price dives (even more). There is one CSR for every 3 robots in my territory. How long do you think ISI leadership is gonna justify that kind of headcount when things go south?

Man, pretty much spot on. Let me guess- Atlanta?

You don't need to provide some grand explanation for leaving. If it's not working for you, then fine. Take care of yourself and your family- leave ISI to the rest of us find the spot that's right for you.

I'll offer some advice- wherever you go, recognize no-where is perfect, and decide to go all in. Maximize your effort and don't waste your time or energy focused on the things that are wrong with the place. Rather, focus on what's right. You'll be happier and more successful as well.

Best of luck to you.

Take your "advice" and shove it up your ass.

Take your negative and cancerous attitude, and shove it up your ass. That was pretty good advice "anonymous" gave you. At every company I've been with, there is always a group of people intensely focused on what's wrong, but unwilling to invest the energy to make things better. They're always bitching about something, eternally miserable and painful to be around.

Shove it up your ass too, smart guy. In fact, maybe you and "anonymous" can get together and shove it up each others asses?

It's clear you're really upset. Life is too short. You don't need the stress, you're not happy, and there's no future for you as ISI. Get out on now, on your own terms. You're better off leaving now and tightening the budget for a few months versus getting let go for poor performance and having to explain that on your resume.

ISI is not for everyone, and that's ok- it's not a value judgement. Go be happy somewhere else and don't look back.

Thanks Dr. Phil, wait......... Maybe we can have a clinical pathway discussion with him. Share some adoption curves, tell the Single Site story and sign him up for a 4 hour training course and put him on the console to start doing cases. We just can't let him stall or be a dabbler, if he does we will have to "challenge" him and be compelling with a provocative opening.
