The Cost of the Health Care Workforce

In the subject matter of costs associated with healthcare, and from a financial point of view, the cost of healthcare continues to rise making it more and more unaffordable for the general population resulting in increased mortality rate. In more detail, in the past decade, trillions worth of USA dollars were spent on healthcare, and some of the causative elements to such increase come from wage increase and a high demand for an increasing number of doctors and nurses to accommodate the increasing number of patients. On top of such causative elements, more causative elements to increased healthcare costs would be fierce competition along with technological advancements. As an example, those facilities with outdated services due to outdated equipment would be less preferred by potential patients because patients would more than likely choose facilities with the latest equipment and services to receive better care with reduced patient risks.

Current Industry Solutions

In terms of current industry, solutions would be better pay and more affordable educational programs provided by numerous educational institutions (Cheapest Colleges for Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, n.d.). With better pay, more and more professionals become more engaged in expanding their career in their current profession in the healthcare industry. At the same time, many educational institutions have been making new programs with affordable tuitions to entice potential students in the direction of the medical field. Such examples of current industry solutions would certainly remedy the demand for affordable healthcare due to the soaring costs of healthcare.

Predict Future Changes

When looking into the future of the healthcare workforce, based on the Bureau of the United States, there would be millions of open positions that will be generated in the coming years in anticipation of an increasing high demand for healthcare services associated with increased populace in the USA which ultimately have a direct effect in the increased demand for healthcare services (Healthcare Occupations, n.d.). With an increase in healthcare demand, labor costs would also increase, and there would also be a need for more efficient medical equipment requiring the latest technological advancement to accommodate more patient needs. Lastly, the future is hard to predict, but with the current data that we have, the future of the healthcare workforce can either prosper or remain above waters as much as it can.
