Thank You For The Insight

Dear Cafe Pharma Alkermes Posters,

Thank you for the insight you have provided to us. We had no idea the FRM's, HBM's and KAM's were such a complete waste of money. Once we read all the threads we finally became aware of the problem.

We have fixed the sitch with the FRM's and Hospital Team. KAM's are a little tougher. We cut them by a bit, but probably not enough to make everyone happy. We are still working on it.

Thanks so so much for the insight you all shared with us. We should have been reading these posts a lot sooner than we did. We will continue to monitor this board to see if we need to make additional changes.

Thanks again,

Richard and Todd

In our defense, all of the expansion was Jim's idea and since Rich handpicked Jim to "fix" everything, and Jim handpicked Todd, well, we thought this must be the best plan.

Long time ALKS employee here. So sad to see what has happened here. Guess what? Nothing is going to change for the better until all of JR's cronies are weeded out. You should start with Apostle. He's THE WORST!!!

I'd have to agree. Heard Apostle protected the KAM's from bigger cuts. When will they get smart and realize the KAM's do nothing for sales and pull us away from our customers to do their little conference calls and hoop jumping so they can check their activity box. Show me one thing. A single thing that a KAM has done to increase sales. Not the exaggerated made up stuff they put on their slides. Anything that has actually increased sales. There is nothing!! That's why they made sure their incentive compensation was in no way based on actual sales or sales increases. Great job KAM's. You are the personification of JR. You're the present he left us that is a mega drag on sales that we can't get rid of. You are the herpes that Alkermes can't shake. Gotta go ice a new lesion. Thanks JR you ass!

MY KAM is a complete joke. All activity based and talks a big game but doesn't do a anything to actally increae sales. Have to agree with the above post. We should have kept some of the FRM's and cut the KAM's. Ask any TBM, the KAM's are good people but the position is worthless. Does NOTHING to increase sales.

Jim was such a disaster. I agree on the KAM/FBT mix up but I liked having a HBM in my territory. A good one can really make a difference. Maybe we just didnt have enough good ones. No idea how I am to launch 3831, keep OP Aristada going, and spend time in my hospitals and VA! Something is going to have to give and I guess that will be the hospital calls. Here goes nothing.

Maybe we should make the KAM's do something. It's not like they are doing much of anything that impacts sales. They should call on the hospitals. I would also like to know why we are keeping any of Jim Robinsons Astellas hires that were part of his good ol boy network??? Makes no sense to me. Jim led us down the wrong path and we are keeping those he brought over who still believe his path was the right one. Like the guy in health systems. I heard he told the KAM's he'd get rid of all the managed markets people before he'd cut a single KAM. But he also told the FRM's they were all needed and not to worry about 3 weeks before they were all let go. Either way, I don't know why he is still here. I hear he has some great hockey analogies. Puke!!

He has one TERRIBLE analogy about rowing a boat faster. What a clown.

LOL!! Just read this post for the first time. Love how the guy ended it. So true and sort of sad but really funny. What's JR doing now? Last I heard he left ti spend more time w his family then quickly packed up and moved back east to run another company during the week and fly home on weekends again.

This is surprising. JR was very well respected at Astellas and the company and culture flourished. When he left the 'wheels feel off the bus' and they were putting people in charge that didn't know how to lead. I my opinion, he was awesome and did a stellar job. The people from the field all the way to the home office sang his praises- not sure what happened and why he could not translate that success to here.

When he left he had recently gone through a divorce and married a rep at Astellas who worked in Philly. It was a bit awkward but maybe she was the distraction. Last I heard, he had a place in Philly and Chicago and went back and forth between his new wife in Philly who was getting her masters or something like that and his kids in Chicago.

As far as here the structure he had put in place for Astellas worked and is still working. The pipeline had never been stronger, culture was rich and people were happy. Cannot say its that way now the pipeline is bleak, culture is poor and people are happy to have a job but getting managed out. However Astellas still has not had a lay off, which they have here. Not sure if its the people here's resistance to JRs changes and adaptation or the willingness of the people at Astellas to follow but its sad all around that it didn't work out.

Not sure what that has to do with out to lead an organization. He was divorced when he met his now wife who happened to work at Astellas as a rep in Philly. He was not overseeing anything to do with her career and she resigned when things got serious.

He was innocent? Still, you don’t dip your pen in company ink.
