I know I will get hammered on this board, but I'm truly thankful. I'm not doing that great, but I know that I have a good salary and benefits when most the country isn't doing that great. Let the beat down begin.
I love my job about 85% of the time, the other 15% I can deal with.....the pay is great, the benefits are good, my manager is a good guy. I want to strangle my customers sometimes, as well as some people on my team...........who knows they may feel that way about me, but I like it here
Lets look at the flip side of this before you praise amgen.
I like hundreds of others at ARI was let go by the company during a rif and many others let go by wrongful terminations. Amgen treats people well as long as they need you when the time comes that they don't you are out on your ass. The company has no values or morals. You can praise them now but when the flip side hits you (and it will) there is no loyalty with this company your worship of this company will change. Don't ever forget you are just a number nothing else. HR and management as well as staff members will cut your throat in a heart beat and never look back. So hold that thought and repost when amgen crashes down on you.
Please spout that crap on the other 985 negative threads
Agreed! He also forgot to mention that the RIF, while utterly awful, did pay a year's worth of benefits and almost that in pay - without working a day!!! If you were able to get another job in that time frame - you actually earned double pay!! Tell me how many companies give that kind of severance. Every company lays off people at some time or another - and you get the haters to come out of the woodwork because they were laid off - but for Amgen to be that generous in a time when they were going to lay off people anyway, they handled it as classy as possible. By the way - in flush times - many people left Amgen voluntarily. I didn't see Amgen bemoaning the "traitors" who left. It's a 2-way street. Ask those people who left Amgen voluntarily if they had morals to work at Amgen free for a year and not take any benefits. Where were their morals and loyalty?
Now I'm convinced that HR trolls are posting just to meet goals and objectives. Crawl back under your rocks and leave honest people alone here to complain if they want to.
Not much of an argument. How about respond with an intelligent answer rather than the typical "go crawl under a rock" because that's all you can think of. Not an HR troll, just an employee who saw a family member riff'ed and then get a job within months at another company and make out like a bandit. He took the right approach and made a bad situation a great one. As a previous poster said, go to one of the other 895 negative threads.
As soon as someone says something positive you are either a manager or an hr troll, really spend time in the 598 other threads a leave us be

You, my friend, are a perfect example of modern day Darwinism. You will get self-selected out on the street. How many other companies want that attitude, especially when they can have their pick of the crop right now? Look in the mirror. make a difference or make an exit.
An example of social darwinism would have this person extinct, not surviving and thriving spewing trash across my airwaves..... groovy, can you dig it

Actually almost all the other big pharma companies have the same severance package. Novartis layoff last December gave a year of med insurance minimum 20 weeks pay with additional weeks for every year of employment after 8 years, $2,500 in training "pay", and the reps earned a paycheck until Feb. 7, 2011 (to avoid WARN) while they looked for another job. Amgen is no special treat.

This is a sales board, not a manufacturing board!
It's our board now. Get lost!
